Recommendation for Large Gas BBQ\Grill
Discussion
Morning all,
Can anyone recommend a good quality gas BBQ. It has to on the large side. Will not need to live outdoors as I can store in the garage.
Any advice appreciated.

Weber but you'll need to spend about four times as much as the one you linked.
This (or the 4 burner job) has been on my wish list for a sometime: http://www.weber.com/GB/en/barbecues/gas-barbecues...

I believe the Genesis/Genesis II range got revamped last year, and a lot of the reviews are not a favourable as the previous versions. I have no hands-on experience with them though.
I went with Broil King in the end - an Regal S490 Pro. Comes with rotisserie kit and very nice cover - Would be very expensive options with some manufacturers. Can't fault it. Cooked for 20+ people numerous times - ribs of beef - Xmas turkey etc.
As above, quite a lot more expensive than what you linked. I found you seem to pay for the durability more than anything else. eg Stainless steel body, burners, cooking grates etc. Cheaper ones use much more painted steel/ cast iron grates for example.
As yours may not be living outside, you may not need to go to the same extent.

I think that is a bit heavy duty. Lets call the budget £500.https://www.internetgardener.co.uk/product/gas-bbq...
Costco are great for BBQ’s: https://www.costco.co.uk/Garden-Sheds-Patio/Barbec...
The Homebase one looks good but I suspect in the flesh it will feel a bit on the flimsy side.
Its another £100, but this looks a lot better made https://www.costco.co.uk/Garden-Sheds-Patio/Barbec...
If you need a side burner, these are just as good: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/gosystem-dynasty-compa...

I have this one and get on very well with it. We use it 4/5 times a week during the summer, cooking everything.

Me and the Mrs eating chicken/pork/sausages/burgers - Gas only, too much farting about otherwise.
Me and the Mrs eating Steak - Charcoal to really get the temp up.
Big group/Party - slowly cook everything on the Gas side and transfer onto the Charcoal for a couple minute burn up.
Takes about 2-3hours to assemble and is pretty solid. Can be moved around relatively easily, but wouldnt want to put away after every use. Suitable for storage outside during the summer (with a cover) and garaged in the winter.
FIL has the standard Outback Meteor 4 Burner (https://outbackbbqshop.co.uk/bbq-s/outback-meteor-4-burner-gas-bbq-red.html) - which is essentially the big one without the Charcoal bit. Works perfectly well...
Could smash this right now -

Having had a few, and been thoroughly disappointed with some, the best I've had was a Beefeater. The next time I buy one, it'll be another Beefeater. The outback I have is crap.
Ive heard a lot of people complain about Outbacks, but mine is great when you consider the cost. Weber's and even Beefeaters are better - but should be for the extra money. It depends whether the OP is going to stick burgers & sausages on it every fortnight for 4months of the year OR whether its going to be used in an outdoor kitchen 5 times per week...Keep an eye out on things like HUKD, they are coming up all the time. The Outback Meteor 3/4 Burner often comes up every so often for £200ish at which point its a bargain.
The only thing I would look out for is Iron grills - much better. A lot of the cheaper options will have cheap crap grills that retain no heat and deform after time.
I don’t see how a gentleman can settle for anything less than this

I’m sure they will do pcp or perhaps you could remortgage?

I think my Outback is just a crap model despite being expensive, I didn't mean they were all crap. Mine has significant cold and hot spots due to the crappy positioning of the burners. You actually only get about 1/2 of the grills that's worth cooking on, and you have to be bloody careful not to burn things on these areas. Napoleons are the dogs, probably better even than Weber, but you don't have to spend £4.5k for one. The Prestige is more than ample for most and a bargain at £1500 - https://www.bbqworld.co.uk/napoleon/napoleon-prest...https://www.bbqworld.co.uk/m/napoleon/napoleon-pre...

Weber have been reducing their costs over the last few years and you can tell in their product. I have a 2013 Genesis
I think this is the sweet spot for the lower priced webers. I would not buy the current version as it just seems half the product for more money. My grill has been outside since I bought it. In Winter it is under 3 foot of snow for weeks. I do not think the current ones can be abused in the same way. I do have a cover that has not survived as well as the grill. In fact, I think the cover does very little other than hold water on the surfaces.
The only issue I have had is a mouse lived in it for one Winter. Had to jet wash it after that!

I bought one of the new Weber Genesis II last year and am really happy with it. It's a 6 burner, goes through gas reasonably quickly.
We managed to comfortably fit 40 burgers on at once!
With all the extras and attachments it is a lot of money though. For £500 it's a trade off between quality and size. Prior to the Weber I had a cheap 4 burner from B&Q that cost £120. The difference between the two is clear, but you could happily grill on the cheap one for 2-3 years before needing a replacement.
I you just bring it out 3-4 times a year then I would say save your money and go for the biggest cooking area you can. But if you're into your BBQ, grilling, slow cooking, smoking etc then maybe get something smaller but higher quality.

If you are set on gas, CADAC (a South African brand) are now available in the UK. My FiL has an earlier version of this:

The rotisserie works especially well, we've catered for big family get togethers, using a combination of the gas and Weber kettle braais using hard wood.
