Pizzastones £7 in Aldi nationwide if anyone wants one.
Just looked in mine and could not find them - had a look online as well - perhaps it's an old offer you were able to get the last of ?

Not sure tbh. Mine had about six in. Seen it mentioned for others nationwide.

Cooked a spatchcock chicken whilst the AK was warming up for first attempt at pizzas - chicken and chorizo. Base was a bit thin, misshaped and too much cheese but I’m calling it a success.

Ooh, where did you get your pizza stone please? I have a plan to try pizzas on mine...

TIA

Doing a pork belly and I can’t get it to sit lower that 100 with the lid shut and vents closed, even with it fully open it’s at late 90’s!

Could be the wind? Can’t hardly slow cook with out of control temps.

For that low, on mine i've tended to have abiut 1/2mm on the top vent at widest.part, and less than 1/2 of the first row of holes on the bottom vent.

Might be worth checking that you're getting a decent ish seal on that bottom vent? It appears to bade of monkey metal, might need a tweek if you have a big air gap?

You don't need it lower than 100c. Anything up to 140c will be fine - traditionally 107c (the old 225f) but don't worry about being too exact.

Did a pork belly on the oven today at 140c - 200c at the end for crackling - turned out really well.

Low and slow is to not cook the outside too much before the inside is up to temp, and to give fat etc. time to render.

Edit: kamado owner... oven today as peeing down biggrin.

Problem is, if it’s too high the meat goes and then goes past the aim temp.

I’ve also finished it in the oven at 240 for 15 to get some crackling.

Hacienda (who supply and support them for Aldi) have a very good reputation so you should be fine.

I know...It's been a long time... but...you did all the prep in a kitchen and then cooked it in a car park, that's novel!
What happened to the chicken, or is it in the dough? I'm trying to picture the wee thing encased in the parcel, but I can't see it being cooked before the dough is burnt to a cinder...if it is though...that looks great and I need more info!

This is my first dip into this thread so forgive me if it's already been covered...no, I don't have a Kamado Oven.

I keep going back to the picture though, trying to place that wee bird in there...will it ...won't it...does it...can it...I need to know!!

looks good anyway lick

Sorry, I'm wine weary.drink

We’ve recently moved into a new build and are still working on the garden. The back of our house is at the MOT type 1 stage - I’m not attempting to roll the kamado across that surface. The chicken is under the cheese as it should be!

They were cooked separate - the chicken served 4 meals in addition to the scraps being used as pizza toppings.

Given its only for throwing coals in, could you pop a steel strap on the outside top of that, and not jiggle it too much for the next two months?
