I've ordered skirt for a pie at the weekend. Can't beat slow cooked beef this time of year lick
It's all about cheek for me at the moment. Just a fabulous melting cut. Holds it's shape too, so perfect as a daub of beef. :-)

Tried chilli with steak, slow cooked 5 hours
Looks great, but steak? If cooking that long you can use something cheap and flavoursome like brisket, skirt, shortrib..
It was Chuck. I might try brisket next time

Nice, bet that was good! Apologies for my autistic pedantry!

Chicken korma with saag aloo, raita, chilli garlic chutney and paratha.

The curry was mild (being a korma), the chutney was super spicy, but overall very yummy! smile

A friend recently turned vegan in June. We set up a secret kitty where every time he mentioned being vegan (without being prompted) we put £1 aside.

Here’s is £62 worth of steak spent at blacklock on 600g bone in rib, and a 600g bone in porterhouse. Thanks vegan.

I lasted 20 months as vegan. Now, I would scoff at least one of those with ease, the second may have to go on a doggy bag. Looks epic.

How does it rate compared to Hawksmoor or the other top steak places?

Only ever had the chops mountain at Blacklock

I’d say the porterhouse was the best steak I’ve ever had. (Although this was partly due to not having had porterhouse before, what a discovery, how have I never tried it before?!!!)

The rib was better than hawksmoor, but not as good as Goodmans. But the porterhouse better than them all!

Also all steak is half price on a Monday meaning it’s much more affordable. And they do £5 old fashioneds, so what’s not to like?!

I'll have to go back again then. Was it Soho or City?

Girlfriend away with work tonight and yesterday so she asked me to make ramen Sunday night.

I thought I'd do a little Karaage starter too.

I make the Dashi from scratch using stock, kombu and bonito flakes.

Used this for the first time as seasoning. Excuse the dirty tea towel.

Finished result, my best effort yet I think.

Off to Goodmans on Thursday for a client lunch. Usually go to the one in Mayfair but its at the City one this time.

Great place to go when you're on expenses!
