Well I just ate the above, it was very nice but indeed ruined by bones. The flavour was ruined by the difficulty in eating it, trying to cut through gristle and sinue and bones. I think the UK version is correct.
Probably not very authentic but quite often use bone in chicken thighs when doing a curry at home. Do cheat by using a jar of sauce with the spice cap but basic idea is...Chicken skin side down to crisp up and render some of the fat down,
Turn over for a couple of mins.
Add a load of chunky chopped onions, let them soften for a minute.
Add spice cap and stir
Throw in the sauce and stir.
Whole lot then goes in Pyrex dish, covered with foil and cooked on a low oven for x amount of hours with the odd bit of stirring until a meat thermometer reckons its done.
Rather a lazy way of doing things but the chicken is so tender and literally falls off the bone.

The Spanish have a name for paella with chicken off the bone "blanco", refers to "white" meat. Whatever, it's normally what ex-pats and tourists get.I'm not a fan of flabby skin in a dish but meat on the bone would be my preference.

I handed the tupperware back to my neighbour after the "dry curry" she made. She asked how it was, in her usual smiley and "desperate to please" demeanour. I didn't have the heart to tell her I had binned most of it, owing to lack of sauce and too many chicken bones ( apparently that's how they do it over there ).
After a wry smile and a hint of gratitude, I said thanks and handed her back the empty pot. She then comes back round 10 minute later with a new tupper ware of another curry -

You just need to be ... diplomatic in your chat with her. I'm sure it wouldn't take too much effort to diplomatically mention that you're not a fan on the bone content. I'm sure she'd be eager to please and the next instalment will be bone-free, just how you like it. Then, free curries for life ?

Looking at that mess i'd say it's more an enthusiasm for life lacking rather than cookingI'd have to be seriously mashed to put that together as an end of night 'meal' AND take a photo
I know this thread is just a place to share anything you ate for dinner, but some of the contributions are just depressing. It's like posting for the sake of posting...

I'll never understand how some folks look at the meals they make and say "You know who needs to see this? The internet, that's who."

The thread has changed. It used to be somewhere to show off a dinner the poster was pleased with having cooked, or a trip to a fancy restaurant. Now we get half-eaten Tesco sandwiches etc. We just have to go with the flow, I suppose...I know this thread is just a place to share anything you ate for dinner, but some of the contributions are just depressing. Now I just find myself scrolling past stuff that Jim Royle would have been disappointed with.
I suspect those who made the effort are probably now posting less, because it gets lost between crisp sandwiches and stuff out of tins.
This was good though:

Finally, and this is for the sanctimonious smartarses, I've just has a skim back through the thread to see what you've posted recently as examples of your fantastic cooking skills; quelle surprise to see, oh, not very much.
Anyway, I enjoyed my tinned fish and salad, thanks for caring. Bon appetit, whatever you put in your gob!

Your dinner looked absolutely miserable, and I've no idea what compelled you to share it with the world.
