For anyone unsure, this is what Wagyu should look like.

i think we just did wagyu a few pages back...
unfortunately it isn't in itself a guarantee of quality. Aldi do wagyu, as do costco. I am sure therefore that there are cheaper grades, cuts, farms etc. within the range of japanese beef. Then there is the whole thing where the export stuff is generally stter than that which is retained for the domestic market. Although, you'd expect that overall the average quality would be higher than some of the st we get over here.

Surprise birthday dinner at one of my favourite restaurants… la bodega del cantinero in San Pedro.
So much going on I didn’t take any pics until the end, but there were shared plates of beef carpaccio with parmigiana and rocket, local tomatoes with mackerel and red onion, followed for me by rack of lamb. Plus a bottle of Doble Doce (a fabulous local cab/merlot)
The real highlight of the night came after the meal though… the speciality of the restaurant… Sherry.
Pedro Ximenez of various vintages… the 1965 was unbelievably good, the 1955 truly sublime… a match for the very best ports.
If you’re ever in the Marbella area this is a must visit…. Nothing like the over priced commercial stuff in the tourist traps.

I don't understand why Wagyu gets such popularity, Black Angus and Dexter are so much better tasting.
"Proper" wagyu is amazing, but the stuff commonly sold as "wagyu" in supermarkets is cack. Don't even get me started on 'craft' beers...
