Not a pleasant sight!

Have a chomp on a steak instead.

Made the family meatballs (m&s) in a homemade tomato sauce

I had a cheeky sirloin with the remains of last nights salad. Sadly was too late to light the bbq and I didn’t want to smoke the place out. It filled a hole

Korean at a really small place in Matsumoto.

Never had anything like this before, it was pretty nice the fried sweet and spicy chicken in particular. If I could have got that on egg fried rice with more of the sauce it would have been incredible.

The cheese thing wasnt my thing, but the mrs liked it. Dumplings were massive, hard to see the scale but they were about 3 to 4 times the size of a normal gyoza and you got 10 of them for 1000 yen (£6).

And more beef..

This time 9 types. My god it was a struggle - 3 slices of each does not seem like much but must have been at least 20oz of meat.
Plus salad, some pickles and several pints smile

I wont lie we knew it was going to be good so we ordered 2 boxes, one each.

The staff asked us several times if we were sure.... dude you might want to look away.

Any who... the result was 2 empty boxes. They were either quietly impressed or quietly disgusted. LOL

A test sirloin on my skillet (that turned out ok but not as crusty as hoped), followed by some harrisa, yoghurt and ras el hanout chicken that we had with a salad, riata, humous and baba ganoush

Yes, I did have a sirloin steak as a starter biggrin

This did not go to plan. I followed this YouTube recipe to try and make some wrap breads.

https://youtu.be/n8vei8M3QjM

Mine came out more like pita bread. I didn’t have plain flour though so used self raining but didn’t add the baking powder.

Then I just made a thin patty from ground beef with salt, pepper, small amount of smoked paprika.

Fried with some onions and peppers and topped with cheddar cheese. My plan was to make it in to a wrap of sorts but the wrap bread was just too hard like cardboard and tasted a bit floury. In the end I just ate the beef, cheese, onions and peppers and left the bread.

Had a barbie tonight. The burgers were originally bought but I combined the meat and made 4 out of a pack of 6. Pressed and rolled to the favoured size. The buns were pretty crappy supermarket ones but I thought that wrapping them in foil would add a level of undeserved sophistication.

Air fryer chips for the full council experience.

Those burgers look meaty! Toasting the buns slightly improved elevates even the nastiest of rolls IMO

Good to see the traditional tinfoil serving method as well - good work!

Quite. Went on holiday there a few years ago and we ate like kings, everything washed down with plenty of beer and soju chasers. I've since dabbled in attempts at making my own beef or turkey bulgogi, must have another go soon.

Night ferry eh. If you’ve not done it before you’re in for a surprise if you’re staying out!

Done Rotterdam to Hull last year. It seemed to be a race of who could get pissed the quickest, before appalling live music and fights on the dance floor. The poor bds who worked there welcomed us, handed out buzzers for a quiz, ran the bar then sang/played instruments until midnight.

By the end they were barely doing music as they were pissed, and the 6 or so left on the dance floor were holding each other up.

It was great fun! We just sat at the back bar watching it all unfold.

I did the Gothenburg to Fredriskhamn ferry a few times when I lived In Sweden as the beer was about a third of the price of buying it in Sweden. It made me realise that British people abroad aren’t a problem, cheap booze and sun can make anyone a dhead laugh

I did the Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry in the late 90s for two summers. Had a lot of fun at that gig.

A few years ago I did two weeks on the Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry. That's the only gig where I have been advised to take my microphone with me when I left the stage for a break.
