The Da Bomb sauce I have must be close to pure capsaicin. I used to put a few drops in a chilli, or some beans, but haven't used it for years as its just plain heat and pain!

I've had it a few times recently as number 8 on the Hot Ones challenges and feel.like I've built up some tolerance but it's a weird experience compared to all the "natural" sauces that make up the rest of the lineup.

There no nice taste and as you say it's essentially pain and heat, a challenge / bragging / joke sauce rather than something to savour.

I wasn’t aware of the 3x Samyang noodles, so I ordered a box on Amazon last night and they arrived this afternoon.

I’m a fairly experienced chilli head and they were hotter than expected for sure, I quite enjoyed them, but they are a considerable jump up from 2x imo.

I did buy some of the 3x spicy in the end smile.

Noticeably hotter than the 2x spicy, but not by as much as expected, although the afterburn is quite strong. I enjoyed them - lucky as I have another nine packs!

Gratuitous pic.

A new favourite, peppery heat rather than chilli heat but plenty of it, a "dry" stir fry noodle where you drain all the water off and then add a sachet of dried somethings, a flavour sachet and some clear oil.

Give them a go if you see them, I think you'll enjoy them.

I got mine from the local Sing-Kee but they don't have them on the website for some reason - they come in individual or 5 packs though so I presume you'll be able to pick them up online if you don't have anywhere nearby.

Will hunt them out

I'm thinking of giving up on chilli somewhat, it's not a problem going down but once it's in there!

I even had a spicy MCchicken sandwich other day obviously eating it, it's hardly even warm but it wasn't a fun afternoon frown

I’m 53, always, always eaten hot spicy food and drown my meals in spicy sauces.

But for the last 18 months my indigestion and it’s either IBS or stomach ulcers cause me all kinds of issues after a night on the spice.

I’m frightened to eat the next pack of 3x spicey noodles because I’m worried they’ll give me Gandhi’s revenge again.

I may have to seriously consider retiring soon frown

I'm with you both. Around the start of Covid my appetite for very hot food has changed dramatically! I no longer relish the challenge! I can still do heat but not 'raw' heat so needs to be sweet as well. In curry terms Dhansak is fine but Vindaloo is off the menu.

PS Indigestion is no problem as Omerprozale is one of my 5 a day hehe

I'll be honest I have never seen the appeal of the 3x spicy stuff, at some point its just heat for the sake of heat, thats no fun.... at either end!

called in costco last night and picked a tray og the nongshim shin cups and the buldak hot chicken ramen.

the normal hot chicken has a good tingle so the 3x spice must be like fire, i don't feel there is any benefit to adding more spice to it

from watching a few (ok a lot) of the hot ones episodes, it seems that da bomb is an outlier exactly as you say. The two sauces afterwards are usually tolerated/ enjoyed more. 1-10 is definitely not “just” an ascending scoville ordering

It just tastes of "burn" whereas the God Slayer I have tastes of tomato, a hint of garlic and then it tastes of "burn", Da Bomb doesn't even try to pretend, it just assaults you from the off and is generally unpleasant tasting.

I've had The Last Dab XXX on its own with none of the other 9 to build up to it and it's a really nice tasting sauce that has a kick to it rather than being something horrific, it's definitely more about how the hit is delivered than the numbers.

The Buldak noodles just kick you in the head, I've taken to adding a fried egg now to take the edge off a little.

So... last Sunday I was at the Wan Tai/Wing Yip at Staples Corner for lunch and went for a shop after (small one as I was there just 4 weeks prior with the frozen dim sum purchases coming in at over £100 alone). In the pot noodle section saw this cheap one and decided to try it, after all how bad could it be ... except I had also done the same the previous trip.
Got peckish last night so tried it, smell was not great, noodles were sub par, but MSG laden soup was nice.

I've not read the whole thread for the obvious reasons, but how are 'Cup Noodle' Soba rated on here alongside the quite frankly terrifying range that is available via the internet? I 'found' them in Sainsburys a year or so ago and £1.70 for the 'big' one seems the going price. Are the ones double that worth trying?

I do like the Hot ones. And the Yakitori.

I quite like the yakitori one too but I don't like that the directions suggest that you drain them as I prefer a good amount of sauce so sometimes I'll add in some separate teriyaki, hoisin, soy, sweet chili or whatever floats my boat that day.

I would part disagree with the good Doctor as they are decent, not the best, but better than average. Only catch is they have increased by about 50% in price over the last couple of years.
