I make this berbere spiced stew a lot. A big pot will do me for lunches all week.

I don't mind eating the same thing every day when it's this good:

I'll be having a crack at this next week - Berbere spice ordered, maybe get some Inerja bread to go with it.

Amazon.

Thought about trying to make the flatbread from scratch, but Yottam Ottolenghi reckons it's a a bit of an art so...

A few recent experiences.

Good
Kings jerky. Very impressive on taste and texture: https://amzn.to/2w4gcdc They sell it in Aldi for a quid if you have one local. I bought some more. You don't get many in the packet so the price mimics the real thing. nuts I think they are taking the piss on value, jumping on the vegan bandwagon because it's basically soya pieces so not expensive if you buy similar things in oriental food shops.

Bad
Gro's bean burger. Bloody awful. It was like chewing through congealed porridge. I think they packed it too much. Tasted nice, though.

Some branded vegan sausage roll thing. Forget the brand, sorry, but it was cold out of the cooler section in Sainsbury's. I just ate it cold and it was like biting through wood pulp that had been soaked and then dried. Didn't taste great, either. Pork sausage rolls are fine when eaten cold, even the value/basics versions.

Had these for dinner last night with some fries, very good as an actual burger, not a burger pretending to be a "beef burger"

I used the amount in the recipe, from the Bart Spices Berbere Mix (Waitrose).

I personally don't think it's that hot, but it is a heat which lingers.

They look and sound good. I know we aren't allowed to ask about the Protein... But do you have the macros for those?

I made that a few weeks back, and it was very good. Also having peppercorn sauce with cailiflour steak is very good also.

What makes it £1.50 per burger? Seems a lot for vegetation.

Think they were on offer when we bought them for a couple of quid, to be honest they tasted great and I would happily have them again. Didn't realise they were mostly Chillis though, they do have a nice kick so I guess that explains why smile

Ah, well, they certainly look like they would cook better than the Gro ones I tried (also ~£3 for 2). I guess it's the vegan trendy tax.

"Grabbing Veg by the Bulbs!

Hi, we're Derek & Chad. We're chefs and brothers who craft humble vegetables into the stuff of food legend. Everything we create is a bold marriage of delicate and punchy flavours, crunchy textures, and all with knife-sharp attention to detail. We're proud graduates of the University of Common Sense who simply believe that eating more veg is good for you and good for the planet.
Prepare for veg unleashed!"

Just to point out their burger seems to have no bulbs.

In fact more flowers have bulbs than veg....

and then

"We're chefs and brothers who craft humble vegetable"

Ingredients

INGREDIENTS: Water, Green Jalapeño Chilli (21%), Red Pepper, Rice Flour, Textured Pea Protein (4.5%), Palm Oil, Pea Protein (4%), Coconut Oil, Stabiliser (Methyl Cellulose), Dextrose, Red Chilli Purée, Modified Potato Starch, Flavouring, Salt, Maize Starch, Sunflower Oil, Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Gluten Free Oat Fibre, Caramelised Sugar Powder, Beetroot Powder, Modified Maize Starch, Spices, Bamboo Fibre, White Pepper, Sugar, Yeast Extract, Sage, Garlic Powder, Tricalcium Citrate, Mace, Potato Dextrin, Maize Dextrin, Caramelised Sugar Syrup, Dried Onion.

Palm oil redcard

I don't really want to use palm oil thanks. I'd rather use humble vegetables that were grown in my back yard thanks. You are on the non meat gravy train.

FECK OFF.
