And another weighty stout…

Again, brilliantly balanced, this time with smokiness to counter the sweetness, and help disguise the 12%
That's a good beer.

I suspect we will see plenty more go this year frown
Unfortunately yes. Elland announced insolvency today. Brewing at Brick and Brew by Numbers being moved from London to Black Sheep in Masham (all under the same ownership) to cut costs, and well-established Adnams looking for a cash injection......

Cheltenham Church Beer Festival featuring Irn Bru with ginger (awful), Verdant IPA (decent) and a sickly sweet oil slick 16% stout. I preferred some of the lesser strength options.

I’ll have to find a can of the fiery iron brew. I’ve had the original and it was brilliant, they also do a vanilla version.

Blimey, it did come out 2 years ago! Was in the news today that ofcom had cleared it after brewdog complained, looks like that backfired for them because I wouldn't have seen it else

Yes, I think that it was only shown on BBC Scotland originally. I'd like to see it myself. Was it a good watch? Brewdog is one of the breweries that got me into craft beer in the first place. I used to love a Punk IPA, but not the same nowadays, plus my tastes have changed as well. Also, their bars used to have a decent selection of other beers besides theirs, but mostly just have their own beers now. Out of the two of them, Martin comes across as an ok chap, whereas James seems to be a bit of a dick.

Worth a watch but just a trigger warning there are some very irritating yanks in it towards the end.

I only ever got lost larger if it was the cheapest thing available, of all the cheap largers it was the one that was least bad. Think I'll reconsider next time. (Though at that price point it's a choice between those fake craft corpo wkers, or literal corporate wkers)

It's being reduced from 5.4 to 5%. Will it make a difference? I'll have to do a taste comparison.

While I don't mind the odd IPA, particularly in summer, I find all these variations a bit OTT.......what next? A daffodil/ rose flavoured IPA.......There's hardly a beer channel that doesn't review them. In my opinion, it's one of the most over rated beer styles around......

Could not agree more.

I like modern styles of IPA including American East and West coast styles but the whole hipster thing with silly flavours has become tiresome. It feels like a competition to outdo one other and differentiate to maintain market share whereas in reality some of these firms need to go bust or else revert to nicely hopped offerings at sensible ABV's
