Doesn’t seem Tefal share your enthusiasm for the old Actrify.

They’ve gone full AirFryer now, with lots of variants looking very similar to the Ninja.

All direct sales of the Actifry have gone from their website. I’m guessing what is at 3rd party resellers maybe the end of the stock.
So get one whilst you can if you want decent chips then.

You're literally roasting it in an oven. A small, desktop oven.

I love my air fryer, but it really does beggar belief that folks are surprised that things they could make in a 'normal' oven can also be made in a slightly smaller, more portable version.
I really don’t think people are ‘surprised’ that they can cook similar foods in a smaller oven.

They are surprised at the reduced time to cook with better results.
This pretty much, plus they do more.

I wouldn't do bacon in an oven, but it's fine in the air fryer.
Why wouldn't you cook bacon in an oven?

I always did bacon in the oven before I got my air fryer. Its literally a desktop fan oven. Its just quicker because there's less volume to heat up. If you can do it in an oven, you can do it in an air fryer, and vice-versa.

Because it's quicker, easier and far tastier to use a frying pan.

We're talking in comparison to an air fryer. Other cooking methods are redundant to the discussion.

Not really - don't get me wrong our air fryers have been brilliant, but they have their limits, which are worth stating given the discussion is about air fryers - or more accurately, desktop ovens.

You asked why I wouldn't cook bacon in an oven, I answered that better methods exist in the pursuit of tasty food. So calm down dear, I'm not trying to stop you cooking bacon in an air fryer.

I'd just rather not eat it tbh.

Mine doesn't seem to cook it as well. I like my bacon crispy and evenly cooked, and to me the air fryer gives me the best result. Not quite as nice a taste as pan fried, but nearer than the oven.

Chips are better in the air fryer as well, as is the marinated chicken I cooked the other day. I got the tandoori texture I was looking for.

It might be that the ease of checking makes it easier to get right, but when it's consistently better, faster and cheaper than other method it's my go to now.

I didn't ask you a thing. I was replying to 98elise who said they'd cook bacon in an airfryer but not an oven. It was you that stepped in and broke the quote chain.

Many apologies for interrupting a private conversation taking place on a public internet forum - silly me!

What did that poor steak do to offend you so much?

6 minutes in a smoking hot frying pan would have cooked it perfectly.

Got to say…cooked a couple of filet steaks tonight and it’s mega quick in the pan, not to mention finishing with foaming butter. Air frier was reliably delivering the side dishes tho.

Same. The local butcher does a 'pack' and I am always trying to work out what to do with the various bits. Tomorrow, it's early up and marinade to prep for the kebabs.

Those were phat kebabs so adjust accordingly.

10 minute pre-heat on an empty fryer at 200c. Pop kebabs in, 6 minutes at 180c, check and flip with tongs, another 6 minutes, check then a few more if needed to blacken them off a touch.
