Iceland - is that for the council thread? I think i'll stick to confit of duck and dauphenoise made in the air fryer
Yawn O’Clock already? I almost predicted that reply on here.Nothing wrong with a spicy chicken pitta bread for lunch.
As much as I love duck and dauphenoise, it’s a bit heavy for me at 12:30.
I must be council.
Apparently not!
I did fish fingers in mine last night!
Apparently they’re is a new kid in the block from Ninja, the Speedi.
Just reading the blurb and reviews, it steams and air fry’s at the same time aswell as all the other functions associated with the Ninja (saute, grill, bake, dehydrate etc)
This allows you to cook grains, pasta and vegetables at the same time as air frying, cooking full meals in only 15 mins.
It does sound pretty interesting. Anyone got one, would be interested in hearing any first hand experiences.

It looks a bit odd as the steamer part is on the bottom & the air fryer is on top. I can see it being a bit arkward to use if you wanted you have both going at the same time.Just reading the blurb and reviews, it steams and air fry’s at the same time aswell as all the other functions associated with the Ninja (saute, grill, bake, dehydrate etc)

They say that’s the whole point of the system though. It cooks the pasta / grains / veg by steam, at the same time as the air fryer cooks the proteins. One pot, whole meal cooking. 15 mins done.

My 11-1 foodi does this. It does work, and well. Though be aware of the effects of steaming on, say, fishcakes/kievs/ anything else absorbent as they will swell up and turn to mush! Sausages/burgers/steak etc work great.
My wife came home with one of these the other day. I don’t really know much about them - I thought they were just little ovens, but she says they’re not.
All I know is it’s a Ninja and has two small-ish cooking compartments. Tried it for the first time and the results were good - did some chicken breasts in double quick time, but other than that it does seem kinda the same as the normal oven. Looking forward to using it more though.

Tonight I did spiral cut sirloin on the air fryer with a reverse sear on the hob.
It came out pretty well but I cooked it for slightly too long, although the wife likes it well done. It came out pretty tender. Preheated the air fryer for 10 mins at 220 degrees. One steak per drawer. I think it probably didn’t need the reverse sear but I did it anyway for 10 seconds a side.
The fat was well rendered and the rind was crispy.
Tomorrow is a 1970’s classic. Chicken cordon bleu

Which air fryer do you have that needs pre heating for 10 minutes? It came out pretty well but I cooked it for slightly too long, although the wife likes it well done. It came out pretty tender. I've had 2 different models and neither take more than a couple of minutes to get up to temperature..... I don't even bother to pre heat personally, I can do a medium done sirloin in 14 minutes at 180 degrees

I had just done the jacket potatoes and confit tomatoes which was part of the 10 mins preheat, pumped up to 220 after I took them out.
The big issue with steaks in the air fryer is getting it hot enough for the crispy charred outside. I am experimenting with different methods. This is the best so far.
ok so i mocked my brother for asking for an air fryer for a wedding present 18 months ago (i’d never heard of them). I ignored and belittled my current wife for banging on about getting an air fryer every few days - because they’re just the latest fad, and it’s just an oven.
I was wrong. They’re magic.
First meal, salmon, miniature potatoes, veg. Second meal, Chicken thighs, veg (rice in rice cooker). …both meals less than 5 mins prep and wait 15 mins. I’d never pay for nando’s again tbh, having had chicken thighs with seasoning.

Most of them pretty much are small ovens (heat in a box). All I know is it’s a Ninja and has two small-ish cooking compartments. They do however cook faster and better than a normal oven.
Discovered this morning that my Instant Dual Drawer air fryer does a brilliant job of reheating the previous nights Dominos pizza left overs for the following mornings breakfast, kept it lovely and crispy
I wouldn't ever turn my main oven on just to reheat a couple of slices of pizza, and microwaving it makes it go soggy so I usually have cold pizza for breakfast, not any longer
