french dip sandwich
Big fan of the French dip but for me it's the mighty Reuben. Salt Beef, Swiss Cheese, saurkraut and Russian dressing on freshly toasted Rye bread.
The question is how much dippage in the au jus?

Sorry Frank, I wasn't commenting on the singular or plural, so no admonishment from me, you have read that wrong.

I know the Americans probably say "hold the tomato" but as an Englishman, and proud of it, surely you can just say "without tomatoes" please hehe
And there’s the rub, as Bill Shakespeare, a proud Englishman said, (through Hamlet).
I’m English, born here, live here, and glad that I do, but I have a lot of pride in my soupçon of French blood.
I can sing the first three verses of La Marseillaise, and have often done so at parades in France on May 8th (Victory Day), and July 14th (Bastille Day).
As I’d say to my French relatives, about my misunderstanding with your post, je me suis confondu, in other words, I fu*ked myself up.
I digress, in the U.S. I say “Hold the tomatoes”, in U.K. I usually say politely, “Could I have that without tomatoes please, is that okay?”
Strange how I feel in U.K. that it would be nicer to ask the waiter if it’s okay, but not in the U.S.

Some interesting ones in here!

Simple here......

Mother in laws egg and cress, egg mayo with lots of salt on white, best bit is she does them in triangles.
Sausage roll. Only really done properly in a caff, cheap sausage sliced lengthways, butter, English mustard and HP in a soft roll. Lovely.
Fried egg sandwich. Egg, white bloomer, butter & Heinz tomato sauce.

I think that the simple is - the one you are eating now.

The thread on worst is possibly easier - jelly and cold custard would be a winning choice to avoid.

However, whenever we have had a big rib of beef then we use the leftovers on an Oven bottom Muffin (Barm, Batch, Cob etc) liberally covered with salted butter, the beef and white Onions that have been soaked overnight in Malted Vinegar overnight.

Delicious!

Not a sandwich as such but the photos above have got me dreaming of salt beef bagels from beigel bake on brick lane.

They are out of this world.

Beigel Bake is an institution among Black Cab drivers, if I had a pound for every time I’d picked up a few beigels there over the years, I’d be able to buy Tower Bridge.
My favourite was smoked salmon and cream cheese, but being “miles away” one late night, when asked for my order, I said “Four lox and cream cheese, please”
“LOX?, LOX? said the guy behind the jump, you’d better f**k off back to Brooklyn if you want lox!”

Too fatty for me, however when I worked in the area I would occasionally grab a chopped herring bagel from there.

A slight technical aside. . . Most Favourite or just Favourite?

Toasted Cheese & Marmite for either.
