If you are prepared to go further North the Kylesku Hotel is excellent and a real occasion in a superb setting:

I had a memorable fish platter their on the NC500 a couple of years ago
Closer to your target area, Portavadie Marina restaurant is also very good adn a nice environment, ..not sure they do a fish platter per se but their fish is always very good

dlks that's an interesting and good shout. I used to go on primary school trips to Sandhead ( the high life I know), also YF disco in the tigh na mara didn't know they now did good food. Portpatrick near there is a favourite place of mine but not sure on the quality of food.
Its a quality seafood platter I'm specifically after

Loch Fyne Oyster Bar - not had it but seen people eating one and it looked great.
If you have space the 'bradan rost' salmon sausage roll from the deli was quite superb
Best I've had was at Loch Fyne their outlet in Bath is no where near as good by comparison though. If you have space the 'bradan rost' salmon sausage roll from the deli was quite superb
Loch fyne in bath etc is a Greene King brand that the original loch fyne oysters company sold off.

Campbell's in Portpatrick has always been excellent for food but it's over 5 yrs since I was last there. The Pierhouse in Port Appin is awesome - booked ahead for a big celebration last year and they put on a fantastic seafood spread for 20+ of us.Its a quality seafood platter I'm specifically after
