Thought it was a bit odd for a takeaway selling kebab to be selling gravy and sausage, but then saw its a welsh village so assuming less choice. Top marks to the the place for the Naan.

In London I have to drive to an Asian area like Tooting to get Kebab in Naan, as its just Pitta/Wraps blimmin everywhere. Lazy sods with no pride - no wonder Lebanon and surrounding areas are always bombing each other up, no one is well fed there.

getmecoat

The wording your way is different from the norm though- Shish normally means pieces of meat marinated, and Kofte would mean minced meat with herbs etc as you have got.

Its all relative isnt it. Organic farmer food trucks are not everywhere so you can really compare. .
it was just an example, i guess i'm lucky an abattoir a few miles away with slaughter to meat burgers supplied to a local farm shop, but not regular takeaways just pop ups at a reasonable price it seems compared to double from one of these soulless chains, i guess living in a concrete jungle is different..
Its all about overheads isnt it. The overheads of a pop up at a farmers shop or market are tiny. Whats the rent on a central london unit in comparison.
Indeed.

I don't know why Goose seems so intent on making this thread about his local abbotoir and burger van. laugh

one comment, yet like other threads you are still going on about it. Lets just call it over so people carry on posting stuff as usual.

Grew up eating crappy questionable burgers from takeaways in Bradford , usually 99p on their own or £1.99 as a meal.

It’s been interesting watching the market shift to decent smashburgers for £8 on their own or £10 as a meal. Clearly the customer base exists for so many takeaways to be offering them and as much as I enjoy them a questionable cheapo burger always hits the spot once in a while.

Due to some self inflicted dental issues I’m on a more liquid/soft diet for a while so can only dream of takeaways for the next month or two

Could not beat 2 piece chicken and chips for 99p from some hovel on Leeds road which was clearly a front for laundering money. I forget the name of the place now. Leeds road fisheries also did a chicken naan kebab as long as your forearm, those were the days. Now its shifting to places which have had a few quid thrown at the interiors, and a st ton of dessert shops.

It’s just a shame that so many places advertising smash burgers don’t actually know what a smash burger is

I suppose the burger debate has 2 separate parts now. Somewhere like MeatLiquor I'll pay a tenner for the burgers as they're that good, another place the serves them pink. Don't think it's fair to compare them to Maccies, I do love a good Maccies (so not the homestyle chicken) but it's nowhere near the quality of ML. Plus ML have Game Overs and I can leave fat and sloshed.

My favourite burger place (Bleecker) use 50 day dry-aged beef, which is why they taste so good. I’m happy to pay a premium for that.

However I don’t like paying £10 for a generic pub burger that is just brakes bros produce, tarted up.
