Has anyone been to any of the Wendy's that are opening? The one in reading is alreay open (nowhere near me as I'm east london/essex). I'm unsure of when the other locations are opening.
West Thurrock Retail Park will probably be your closest when it opens
closest to me will be the one in Stratford. Though no idea when it's opening
What does wendys do? I’m not far from thurrock so can check it out for the masses.

It'll be interesting to see how the likes of Wendy's, Popeyes etc fare in the UK. Popeyes have grand plans for at least 300 Drive Thrus but I can't see it happening.

From seeing the rate my takeaway video's it appears that the 'standards' of indie or small chain takeaways across the country is really going up? and spending proper money on getting a shopfitter to fit out a place professionally and 'branding' seems to be a normal now. So much more competitive.

Will depend on how much Wendy's and Popeyes are willing to spend on prime advertising, and obtaining prime locations i.e. willing to be loss making for a few years.

Tim Hortons are paying ludicrous rents and reverse premiums to secure locations which can't be sustainable. Wendy's are a little more sensible and I've not seen too much of Popeyes yet.

I've noticed the same from watching Rate My Takeaway. The average McDonald's Drive Thru costs about £1m to fit out.

Mention of Tim Hortons made me do a quick google (not had one since last time in Canada 3 years sgo). One in Harlow just off the M11 - so will Bob in this morning for breakfast on way up North and report back.

Edited too add will paste results into the Breakfast thread …. smile

We’ve got a Tim Hortons in the local town, central location, I rarely see anyone in it. I tried it once, didn’t rush back.

Same place as last time. Doubled up on the mixed starters. Wife had a "masala chicken paneer" which just appeared to be a tikka masala with about half a pound of cheddar melted on it. I had garlic chilli chicken, which was excellent.

Tell her to plate it up, you’ll have it later as a 4th meal.

Then tell her she’s got a fat arse.

Treat um mean.
