From seeing the rate my takeaway video's it appears that the 'standards' of indie or small chain takeaways across the country is really going up? and spending proper money on getting a shopfitter to fit out a place professionally and 'branding' seems to be a normal now. So much more competitive.

Will depend on how much Wendy's and Popeyes are willing to spend on prime advertising, and obtaining prime locations i.e. willing to be loss making for a few years.
Tim Hortons are paying ludicrous rents and reverse premiums to secure locations which can't be sustainable. Wendy's are a little more sensible and I've not seen too much of Popeyes yet.

I've noticed the same from watching Rate My Takeaway. The average McDonald's Drive Thru costs about £1m to fit out.
Mention of Tim Hortons made me do a quick google (not had one since last time in Canada 3 years sgo). One in Harlow just off the M11 - so will Bob in this morning for breakfast on way up North and report back.

Edited too add will paste results into the Breakfast thread …. smile

In need of some filth today, found a random money laundering kebab shop, went for chicken shish and lamb doner.

Fancied filth today for lunch.

Doner Kebab - loads of their homemade chilli sauce and chips with cheap ketchup on.

Spork and a couple of cans of Dr Pepper to wash it all down.

You're going to need a lot of Magic Trees to get the smell of that out of the car!

smile - I did have the front windows fully down, With a good through draft. More worried about the chilli and garlic sauce stain on my t-shirt.
