Dirty Takeaway Pictures (Vol. 4)
Discussion
Met some friends for a few drinks, drunk too much to be able to drive/ bothered to go to the supermarket like planned. Just wanted something small and easy.
Saw a new kebab place on ubereats, much cheaper than everywhere else so ordered a doner box... order got cancelled and then they appeared to be offline, then online... tried to order again but it spent about 10 mins waiting to be accepted so I decided to just get a kfc snack box instead...
Now it appears I have both arriving... I have no faith in the kebab shop. We will see!

I don't live in an Uber area, but do you get compo if they don't do your order?
Don’t think you get any compo, but obviously you get refunded. My experience of ubereats & deliveroo is that deliveroo are really good when you have items missing/complaints and will refund no problem. Ubereats aren’t as keen to offer vouchers.
But then ubereats are definitely trying to aggressively undercut deliveroo upfront. I don’t think I’ve ever ordered on ubereats without a 25% off code in the past 8 months. Whereas deliveroo offers are far less frequent.

Looks tasty enough but can't help thinking that £22 is an awful lot of money for what it is?
Yup. The difference in prices across the UK is always interesting. Here’s the pricing from a place in Durham in comparison -

Dat pizza tho.
Kind of blandness rubbish that is oh so good. Even better in the morning when you've left a slice in the box overnight to mature.
There's something wonderful about those kinds of pizzas every now and again. The sort of place where you can't fathom how they make any money by selling the biggest pizza you've ever seen for £6.Kind of blandness rubbish that is oh so good. Even better in the morning when you've left a slice in the box overnight to mature.
Then you realise around 1-in-4 probably don't contain the things they tell you they contain. Sometimes it's better not to know...

I suspect we've all had one of those pizzas where we wondered whether or not we were eating what was advertised. And where we wondered how on earth it was possible for the cash.
Even here in Inner London (SW) I can still buy a pizza that's too big to fit into my oven for less than a tenner.

This is the best kebab in Bournemouth/Poole, prices are fair, food is great.

Indeed. But, as that link shows, around a quarter of surveyed pizza places didn't think those margins were big enough.

Fiddling with ingredients to save a few bob is rife. Every penny counts! I know of a few that have been caught out selling beef or mutton as lamb instead.I suspect we've all had one of those pizzas where we wondered whether or not we were eating what was advertised. As for the cheese I’m not surprised. A quick search at a wholesaler I use shows that 12kg of 70/30 mozzarella analogue mix is £9 cheaper than a same size and ratio mozzarella and cheddar mix. I guess if the end customer can’t tell the difference then why would cheaper takeaways bother buying the pricier stuff.
Before all the horse meat outcry there were takeaways in Bradford selling a ‘beef’ burger and a few chips for £1. Margins must have been minute but they would sell shedloads in a day.
I’m interested to see what happens with prices in the event of a no/bad deal. They have steadily been creeping up in most takeaways over the past year or so and even bossman chicken shops are starting to raise prices

Funnily enough, that's the only other kebab shop I've been to in the last 5 years or so, it was ok but too long ago to give it a rating.I might try it this weekend if you can vouch for it?

Chips are far better too
Long week so fancied a treat. Special kebab (all the meat) on a 12" garlic bread pizza, salad, and chilli sauce. Chips were sent by mistake I think but didn't eat them as I can't stand kebab chips that have been steaming in their container.
Only managed half, the remainder was stir-fried with onions, chilli, garlic and remaining chilli sauce next day.
Due to a voucher code on Uber Eats, should have been £20, got it delivered for £12.

I think it's great when a kebab/chippy does their own chili sauce. If i see them squirt chili sauce out of a crucials bottle I tend to tell them i don't want any. but if i see it come out of a metal tub, using a ladle then I'm all for it. Although I've noticed some of them will dump that same crucials stuff into that metal tub...to make you think it's their in-house sauce. cheeky.

Usually i would agree however a few years ago after moving into a new house went to the kebab shop over the road and had the usual chicken shish, and doner meat with chilli sauce fresh from the ladel..In the car, missus driving after dropping some friends home i proceeded to st myself..
Que 3 days of continous vomit followed by st followed by vomit...Worst food poisoning i have ever had (and i have had severe food poisining in turkey from a kebab place again).
The only other person to have chilli sauce also had a rough few days..Im sure it must of been there a good few months for this to happen. so in some cases i feel safer with the bottled crap

How can you go IKEA and not get a hotdog?!
Hopefully I'll be bringing a bit of culture to the thread later with some foreign takeout, just need to convince the missus we don't need to eat at her parents!
