I made a bacon and mushroom flan and I've just had half of it for a late brekkie. It was fantastic and I'm going to try and save the other half for lunch later.

Very much approve. What makes it a flan over a quiche?

I dragged the boy shopping. He put this in the trolley.

I’m not sure what I’m doing with it other than discretely chucking it in the bin.
If they are the Aldi ones, very tasty.

I think it's because I live in the north. But happy to be corrected if there is a more proper reason.

They're lidl and perfectly decent for what they are. Just need extra salt and sugar same as every other tinned bean product.

No idea. I always thought a flan was sweet and a quiche savoury but maybe the PH masses know better. It’s probably one of those “same thing in different places” things who knows

I thought it was quiche/flan savoury, and a ‘tart’ sweet ?

KISS principle this morning:

3 egg omelette (butter and eggs) + mug of tea.

Toast and marmalade to finish on a sweet note:

Sweet flan is a very specific Spanish/Mexican baked custard thing, like a creme caramel.

TBH I think flan here just means the same as tart.

A flan is a tart and vice versa. A quiche can be a flan but not the other way round.

I was so beguiled by my earlier effort, that I had to give it another go, this time, adding mushrooms and a little dijon mustard.

I think that I've found my own private (FEB) Idaho.

I think that I recognise this butter -- it's from Herefordshire, right?

That looks so sad and alone. It needs cheering up with some smoked salmon or maybe bacon.

Well I’m unsure! I’m in Didsbury, south Manchester but as a massive favour as it’s my local bar I’ll nip back tomorrow for a pint and ask!

Ham was about 10 days out of date (sealed package) but even I'm not that brave. Didn't fancy cheese with Breakfast.

Sometimes just the simple things are what we want - but yes - if I had !/2lb of smoked salmon sat around - would have scoffed that as well smile
