Currently £2 in my local large Sainsburys - but I think only a few days left on the deal!

First time purchase - went for Malaysian Laksa Curry & Keralan Coconut Curry.

Strangely enough I had the Firey Goan last night, found it in the cupboard with a use by date of yesterday!

Wouldn’t buy it again but it was ok & even with the optional chilli, wasn’t really that firey!

Further back in this thread there’s a version of the fiery Goan done in a slow cooker with garlic, onions and mushrooms. I do this whenever they are on special and the results are pretty good.

I can't believe I've not seen this thread before.

I agree, they are nice. I love adding to the ingredients to personalise them.

Really good value when discounted which they often are.

Pretty sure it's all of them as I bought Malaysian Laksa Curry from my local but not in that list above.

I picked one up earlier in the week and slow cooked it yesterday. Usual impressive results. Paired it up with my latest trick of air fried supermarket onion bhajis and poppadums - they turn out really good too for a cheap curry night.

Agreed.

It was alright, but no nicer than the Sharwood's jarred Goan sauce, which is a lot hotter.

I needed a quick meal recently & had a Sharwoods jalfrezi, wasn’t very impressed.

Thanks to this thread, I nipped into Sainsbury's this afternoon and grabbed a few to try. Had the Fiery Goan tonight, with chicken and some tarka dahl & naan, and it was not bad at all, quite tasty I'd say and better than anything I've previously had out of a jar. Cooked it with the enclosed chilli - enough of a kick to be pleasant. We'd have it again.

Not sure why everyone is raving about these kits, they are 2/10, poor flavour and not at all authentic.

If you want a good one, try Kohinoor. Tastes pretty close to real indian food, far better than the garbage from spice tailors or pataks.

Their dal makhani is excellent, just needs to be heated up:

Luck now bhuna is great too.

If you want powder mixes that people in South Asia use too, buy Shaan stuff. Thats actually proper indian / Pakistani food, and tastes amazing.
