what's everyones been like so far?

I struggled to find anywhere that wasnt fully booked so ended up in hard rock cafe

service was slow, I was told I couldn't order a beer until I'd ordered food - the starters didn't constitute being substantial so we ordered mains also (the starter sharing platter was huge though)!

annoyingly 9.20 came around quickly and I had to leave a full pint when we left. also they won't let you take food home, - I'd barely touched my mains but I happened to have been shopping and had a sutible bag so just took it anyway - i'd like to see them try and stop you.

the whole experience was very annoying!

I presume that this was somewhere that is Tier 3, and your goal was to go for a drink and you hadn't planned anything - do I have that correct?

What I find really annoying about the current situation is the need to plan any kind of outside of the house entertainment. There is zero room for spontaneity.
It was better during actual lockdown, when pubs cottoned on to the fact that they could do takeaway. The weather was much better, and there were far fewer people braving the outdoors, so you could get something decent to eat and drink without pre-planning. I tried to book lunch last Sunday, I'll admit I was a bit last minute, but neither of the two places I tried even bothered to return my phone call. I know they're busy, but I think they need to think a bit more carefully about how they treat potential customers.

yep! forgot that everywhere isn't in tier 3 yet - it's all people are talking about here pretty much in Manchester
