There appear to be only 3 in Scotland - Dingwall, Fraserburgh and Kilmarnock. All a bit too far to travel to for me!

There's a Wimpy in Dorking. It's always empty, I have no idea how it survives.

Unless, like some other establishments in town it offers 'extras'.

Not that keen myself but the wife was suicidal when she thought the Ruislip one was shutting down a couple of months ago. But it was just a complete refurb so her head is now out of the oven and she's got a reason to carry on living.

Her parents (no longer with us) used to take her and her sister when they were little girls, to the one in Colindale, so the tastes and smells hold special memories for her.

Although she preferred the prices back then.

I was always mystified by the same thing in brown, for the brown sauce?? Wft is that meant to be. A plastic tomato for tomato sauce is fine, a brown tomato for brown sauce.....?????

I used to spend quite a bit of time in this one during the 1980's... Friars Square, Aylesbury!!

Thought most Wimpy's closed years ago.....!!

Oh man, that bought back some memories - not least the very odd smell that always seemed to pervade the underground market!!

What a fking rip off!! £5.85 for a Berni Inn mixed grill, when you can have a Wimpy International grill for 54p. No way is the Berni Inn grill over 10 times better.

I think there could be several years between the menus.

We used to go to dinner at the local Berni Inn most Sundays when I was a kid. It was brilliant, and I sort of wish there was a bit of an updated version now. The menu was pure 70's of course, complete with prawn cocktail and coffee in a glass that looked like a Guinness. cloud9

The story of Wimpy is actually quite interesting.

Started off in the USA like many burger restaurants, came over to the UK in the 50's.

Eventually got mostly wiped out in the UK and USA by McDonalds/Burger King etc, but for reasons unknown the brand thrived in South Africa, and they now have something like 550 restaurants over there now along with their headquarters.

I read a few years ago that Wimpy declared they would make a big return to the UK.

I used to go to the one in Southsea when I was at uni in the early 90s. Burger & fries served on a proper plate with knife and fork and a pot of tea cloud9

I'm browsing on Deliveroo now, seriously contemplating putting in a Wimpy order.
