The last Wimpy I remember being open in Scotland was in Arbroath when I was a young lad at college I think. Looking back it always seemed a bit more “honest” than the McD’s and BK, however they weren’t really common at the time as far as I recall.

loved them, used to go with my gran and have a burger and then a doughnut with icecream and chocolate sauce. this was a sit down in king Sreet in kilmarnock, I think this one is in a 10 pin bowling alley...

There’s a Wimpy at Milford on the Stafford side of Cannock Chase.

Take away only but always busy.

I don't miss their properly stupid fking teapots though. I was a rep on the road through the eighties and would be in a Little Chef several times a week, I don't recall ever having a teapot that didn't dribble and piss all over the table upon pouring. An Early Starter and a fking puddle! Every fking time! The fking things are still out there too, in other establishments. Why? For the love of God, Why?
BHS cafe teapots were the same.

I'm browsing on Deliveroo now, seriously contemplating putting in a Wimpy order.
I did that just a few days ago! Well, it was Just Eat, actually. Definitely brings back some fond memories, although mine was cold by the time it showed up. Got a bit dried out when I heated it up a bit.

The Wimpy on Lord Street in Southport was a regular Saturday lunch treat from the age of about twelve through to my mid twenties when it closed - I went through different phases, but definitely remember the egg burger being one of my favourites.

I also visited the one in Dorking when I lived over that way a few years back and was shocked to find one here in Basingstoke when we moved here but it doesn't seem quite the same, somehow - maybe I've been spoilt by too many proper American fast food burgers since then.

Yup. And Hassan now owns nearly all the fast food outlets in Stowmarket.
He is also opening another soon in one of the ex bank outlets. This time, an Italian restaurant instead of pizza, kebab or chippy !
Not bad from a chap that was his Dads laccy !

There's a Wimpy near us which is really good. No the cheapest takeaway/fast food option, but we love it.

https://locations.wimpy.uk.com/england/staffordshi...

Just outside Shugborough, so all you National Trust members can go there instead of their overpriced café!

ETA: they just announced they're staying open for takeaway after Thursday, too!

I went to the one in Southend back in 2017, we had (my friend and I) quarter pounder with bacon/cheese, large chips and a large coke x 2.
It was average and overpriced around £16.
The best Wimpy's I had were the smaller restaurants (like a cafe) usually only one cook, two in Islington Chapel Market and Upper Street, other one in Battersea Clapham Junction in the 1980's.

I went to one last year out of curiosity. Had a half-pounder with chips. It was identical to the kebab shop burger and chips, which is not a bad thing but way more expensive than a kebab shop it was incidentally run by Turkish people.
Was it Shrewsbury by any chance?

I have a huge appreciation for a tea pot that pours properly, it makes me as happy and as content as one that doesn't makes me unhappy and grumbly, and I will complain to the proprietor, who had better be damned well apologetic and contrite or I can seriously spit my dummy out, beyond reason. It's something I have zero tolerance for. Little Chef, this is your legacy.
