I bought a small stellar frying pan recently. Seems really well made, probably better made than the Samuel groves one

Got some nice 80’s prestige copper bottomed pans from a house clearance auction, never been used. Bomb proof build quality. Almost enough to make you nostalgic.

Result - I had my folks' ones of those until we changed to an induction hob lately, bloody good. Now with their third owner smile

The pan lids also make that distinctive rattling noise when you are boiling food, just looked the company went into recievership in 1997, how typically British.

Im enjoying these on my induction hob.

Think I paid less than £400 as I found a deal too, very good and replaced 2 pans where the anodised had come off the rivets with no questions (other than a picture) asked.

Oh blimey, that is a good deal!! And quite a few people have mentioned those pans on this thread haven't they? Argh, stop tempting me.

I just picked up the 32cm cast iron, enamelled cassarole pan from Aldi. Was only £30 and appears to be every bit as good as the astronomically priced Le Creuset it replaces.

Don't tell me that, I've becoming a bit obsessed with Le Creuset and was hoping to buy a few more!

For what they cost I don't think you can go wrong. The knob on the lid seems a bit crap but you can change that if needed.

The Le Creuset it replaces was well over £200 several years ago.

I may pick up a griddle pan as well, again I have a Le Creuset one which is perfectly functional but the Aldi one is bigger.

For my birthday I asked for a few La Creuset things, like an orange spoon rester thingy, some ramekins and little things like that. Unsurprisingly no one wanted to go in for the really pricey pans etc I had on the list, so I'm asking myself if I can justify any of it myself when people like you are saying the Aldi stuff is basically just as good.
I might treat myself to a La Creuset griddle pan for steaks, but to kit my whole kitchen out in the stuff might be lunacy. I do like the orange colour though!

I got some stellar pans (yes really that good) a 4 piece set to go with the induction hob about 10 years ago. Hob and pans in good order, I bought both well, the pans £140 and the hob off of the shop floor for less than £200.

We used to have quite a collection until (along with some very nice fine chinaware and rather expensive glasses) the wall cupboards it was all in were emptied onto a stone floor... kids!

I didn't grab a griddle pan yet but will in the week and breaking in the new casserole pan tomorrow.

Samuel Groves are announcing their deals via email this Friday, but I expect they will also be on their website.
