And thanks from me. Glad I waited a few weeks. That is an unbelievable deal.
Is this a deal?Well obviously for the customer, but is it because they have a ridiculous mark up ?
Or would they loose money.
Not like it's a Loss Leader.
Just interested.
They are British made pans and direct from the manufacturer. No idea what their cost to manufacture is but wouldn't be cheap as they are made here.
Costco do a range for just under £200
You get around 6 pans with lids. Very good quality
If there was an open ended budget, I'd get fissler cos they look nice but not sure they're any better. My mum's had some fissler pans for north of 20years and they're fine. They were quite pricey to start with though

I walked around Tesco a few weeks back and noticed they were doing half-price deals on Salter frying pans. I bought a 30cm for £15 and it one of the best purchases I've made, I absolutely love it! I'd gladly pay £30 for another if I had to.
It is the Platinum Megastone range. It looks like black/white marble stone so no Teflon (which I moved away from after reading disturbing reports of).
I will be looking out for pans in that range if they do them.

I've not looked up all the recommendations here, but I'm surprised to see so many without insulated handles. I wouldn't consider one. ETA apart from those pans you'd also use in the oven/grill.
When I was looking for one pan from JL to replace the one I used most, I noticed Waitrose had what looked to be the same at a lower price.

My current pans (Waitrose stainless, very good, also purchased with a half price deal) don't have insulated handles and I don't find it a problem, they're only warm at the junction with the pan whilst the bulk of the handle remains cool. By contrast the cheapy spare/spare/spare frying pan that lurks at the bottom of the drawer has a handle that gets roasting hot within a minute.
Well the Le Cruset s/s saucepans I bought two days ago from JL is going back on the strength of that SG deal!
A Classic 3 pan set, 30cm frying pan, 24cm chef pan, 36cm paella pan and 3 trays for under £300. Well done pistonheads!
