Not at all. If you want cheap beer in a former bingo hall. Good, it’s unbeatable.

But please don’t try and tell us the food is decent, every single picture produced shows it to be awful.
Well don't look at them then.

How difficult would it be for you to look at a thread knowing you won't like the content and decide to not click on it, not read it and not comment on it. If you struggle with that then I think you need to step away from the keybord and seek help.
Every time I've been in a 'Spoons, the food has been perfectly acceptable for the price. It's not fine dining and it's not meant to be! Good staff, good, quick service, reasonable prices, clean toilets! What's not to like? Unless you're expecting to hear Gordon Ramsey shouting obscenities in the kitchen while you chow down on your Full English or Fish & Chips! Maybe it's not for you Okgo, but I'm sure you'll be back soon! wink

Someone show me a decent meal from spoons - we haven’t had one yet. But great because you can get a tramp measure Peroni for £1.72 - apparently.
If they we're giving the small bottle of Peroni with the meal you'd be saying "that's rubbish, so you'll need to buy another drink on top". But they are giving the big bottle of Peroni so it's a "tramp measure".

Has it occurred to you that perhaps you're not being entirely objective hehe

Next Week: 'spoons have taken over La Gavroche and are doing a whole lobster with truffles and caviar for £3.27.
You: Look at the small left claw on that lobster, that's crap.

What! Would you deny him the right to post on this thread and for him to get a misguided feeling of superiority and the chance to experience a semi?

Let him continue to post or he might start kicking puppies.

wink. biggrin

Someone post something that doesn’t look like a st school dinner and I may change my mind. Nothing to do with superiority, I LOVE a grotty boozer, in fact those are my favourites.

I said the booze is cheap. Can’t argue with that. The places aren’t where I’d want to drink but the product is the same as elsewhere.

Yet to see food comparable with anywhere else as I don’t think many places would serve things like what we’ve seen in the last two pages.

Anyway,

I am off to Edinburgh in May. I think there are five 'spoons in the centre and we are there for five nights. Room only, so that gives the opportunity to try each one twice. Breakfast in the hotel each day would be £120, compared to £25-30 in 'spoons.

Why not try one of the many amazing local businesses?

Serious question

I suspect because it will cost more and get less.

Because I am not made of money.

Also I eat to live and not live to eat. A Michelin starred meal would be wasted on me as I would be thinking it is not good value for money.

And Wetherspoons is a local business, employing local people. Tim Martin has built a successful business. I don't hate the man because he has done well. That is called envy and it is not a good look.

I was talking about local cafes not The Witchery.

Let's see some pics of your fine dining experiences in these so called grotty boozers, we're always happy to try new pubs/restaurants, can you recommend any? smile

I don’t tend to eat in pubs like that, if they bother to do food at all.

Maybe that is the difference, I tend to separate places good for drinks from those good for food - they do tend to be a different kind of place.

There’s a few that manage both though, Canton Arms is one, hope and anchor in Waterloo, eagle in Farringdon.

This is your choice, which is fine.

Why are you trying to force your choices on other people? Their choices are just as valid.

Even the fans of spoons are struggling to defend the battered dildo up the page, just puzzling is all.

I’m flying a couple of times next week, I’ll see if I can get a better looking breakfast out of Gatwick/Heathrow outlets wink

And I won't tell you what they charge for a burger in a decent place

Love a Maccas, would say I get a couple per month. Almost exclusively breakfasts as I’ll be hungover.

My main gripe is how much it’s gone up in price, I never go into one (use delivery) unless in a station or something after drinks so not fussed on cutlery or whatever else.

I think it’s still cheap food done to a predictable standard. Not many places can match that. Subway however can and does on a predictability front.
