Decent red wine for a tenner? (better than Barossa Ink)

I find it unusual that “decent red wine for a tenner” is even a subject. Go in any supermarket and you’re going to find good red wine for less than £10 IMHO.
I agree, this thread is for I had a very pleasant red called "Hereford" for £5.75 a month or so back. Argentinian IIRC
Yep: (£7.25 now)

Jam Shed Malbec. Lovely stuff.
I've tried Jam Shed, it's very sweet and almost an alcopop.Back in the Uk for 5 days, so intend to catch up with some of my favourite non-Spanish wines.
Very limIted shopping in the village, but picked up a bottle of this southern Italian to drink with pizza tonight. Opened it to taste and it’s pretty decent… dark fruits, some oak, not overly tanic, quite interesting… seems very decent value at under £8 from the local co-op
The weekend will be Musar, Villa Antinori and Segla… so not quite thread budget stuff

A little more than £10 but Lidl organic vacqueyras 2019 at £11.99 is as good as if not better than most £30 bottles of Chateauneuf du pape imho.
Had a look for this at my local Lidl at the weekend, but they only had 2021 for £9.99 and it didn't say Organic anywhere on it.Chris Stott said:

The Co-Op have some good offerings, down to a good buying team lead by Sarah Benson iirc. They have a habit of picking good value wines as long as you stay away from the most traditional Old World wines. The weekend will be Musar, Villa Antinori and Segla… so not quite thread budget stuff

Didn’t look at the whole section, but they did have a pretty decent selection of Italians… Amarone, Barolo, Vino Nobile de Montepulciano, Villa Antinori, some southern Italians I’ve rarely seen in Majestic… not what you typically expect to find in medium sized village supermarket! MitchT said:

Not tasted it mind, but I suspect being £2 and 2 years younger it might not be the quality of the 2019 vintage but I’d suspect it’s not a bad wind either.
Agree with the above. Co-Op seem to stock the Rosso and the Riserva interchangeably and price them the same on the shelves, although the Riserva isn't often seen in my local shops.
Only difference is the Riserva has a minimum of 3 years ageing.
The Wine Society have the later at £9.25, it's my staple "House Italian Red".
