I stayed at Malmasion Oxford, thanks for posting this hotel though, might try that next Spring.

The VIP will probably be overly sweet if you are really into the vintages you mentioned. Personally, I enjoyed it as much or more than what I referenced but that’s down to personal taste I guess. Although I enjoy all wine laugh
I’ve been investing in wine for 20 years and have a built up a cellar with a larger number of well known names/vintages, and some lesser known ‘top end’ wines. Whilst I enjoy sharing these with other people when they visit, I don’t drink them on a regular basis and normal drinking is in the £10-£15 range.

I’m keen to try the wines that are being suggested here.

Growing a bit weary of the under a tenner, so tried this for a little more than a tenner,

worth it.

Tesco have a Chianti for £9

Its has a cock on the neck
This is very important with any Chianti you must have the Cockrel on the neck of the bottle as proof of its true Tuscan Classico origins

This is one of my favourite reds and taste a lot more expensive that its 9 quid price tag

Look for a picture of cock in the wine isle

Grabbed one of these from lidl

Very pleasant for the money, might grab another one next time I go there.

€10 so under a tenner. From the mighty Frontos vineyard in Tenerife. 2021 vintage, I believe it's export banned but I can't verify it. 13.5% so it packs a punch .

Compared to a £20 bottle of co-op CNDP it lacks the depth of taste range but at half the price it's a crowd pleaser and there's a very low level of sulfites . I have no nose issues off this one.

Slightly above budget redcard, but it’s rosbif for tea in Casa Dastardly so time to break out the Musar.

Not the best vintage, but I’m sure it’ll hit the spot.

Anyone who doesn.t like that needs their head examining. Last time I had a Musar was around 20 years ago.

Here's one that actually is only slightly over a tenner;) apols if it has already been done in the thread.

Majestic own brand Definition Claret (Bordeaux for non Brits). Medoc, 12 quid a bottle if you buy 6 and a pretty solid drop at that price.

With the way inflation is going, on wine in particular, we need to change the thread title. Used to think I was extravagant paying £6-7 a bottle not that long ago.

Far too tanic compared to the majority of wines liked on here.

At Sainsbury’s on offer £9 (from £10.50) and 25% off if you buy 6 bottles, so £6.75/bottle then - one of our favourite everyday reds lick

Waitrose usually hold a selection of Musar from various years - love it as Dad, long departed, always used to get it in for Christmas

Slight thread drift but if we are including fortified wine and can go a little over £10 the Fletchers 10 year old tawny port from Aldi is amazing value at just under £12 and really quite delicious.

Mrs L and I reckon its better that the Taylors 10 year old tawny from Waitrose that's just under £20 as a special offer - usually £24 IIRC

Blandy's Duke of Clarence Madeira is £9.35 via Amazon Subscribe & Save.

Obviously a blend but much underrated in my opinion, as is Madeira in general.

This is on offer for £3.79 in my local Aldi. It’s OK to drink and perfectly fine to cook with.
