Attempting a 'healthy' BBQ tonight!

It would be too tempting for me to eat the usual beef burger, 3 pork sausages and probably something else quite fatty every time the sun comes out!

As it's only Tuesday, but it's warm, I'm attempting to be more healthy.

I've just made some Turkey burgers, following this recipe: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/turkey-coriand...
I hate Guac though so it might just go with some lettuce and onion. They're sitting in the fridge hopefully going to firm up a bit!

Finally, I'll do the usual corn on the cob, but I suppose I'll have to use less butter than I usually would!

So, am I in for a massively disappointing BBQ or might I be pleasantly surprised that a vaguely healthy meat feast can still be good?

Quarter some bell peppers and roast them on the grill too.

A baked potato wrap it in tin foil and throw it directly on top of the glowing red coals for about an hour.

Well, as per my original point of the post, not sure I'll enjoy any of it as it's an healthy attempt, coal vs gas debate aside.

Come on, someone had to ask.

I'd just enjoy a normal bbq. Not that I'm averse to the occasional chicken fillet in a bun.

Good luck with those things.

For the record, a grilled steak is one of the healthiest things you could eat. Just don't marinade it in raspberry jam first.

You're not having a bbq every day are you? If so, I'd be concerned about the carcinogenic properties of burnt food more than getting fat. biggrin

Veggie kebabs - onion, peppers, cherry toms and mushroom. Marinade if you CBA...

Those "sausages" are just wrong.

It can be good but not sure about your current recipes. Few I do, usually on coal but most would work fine with gas, maybe add a box of wood for flavoured smoke:

Asparagus as above, squash cut in half and pour jalapeno/butter on top, lemon brocolli, green beans with lemon, carrots with maple syrup, salmon fillet cooked on wood, chicken legs/wings cooked with vortex. The weber bbq book has a load of good recipes in

Pork belly obviously. You’ll need a real barbecue though rather than a gas grill.

Get some good quality briquettes and it makes an enormous difference to how easy it is to barbecue compared to cheap charcoal.

I seen Tom Kerridge BBQ cucumber on his show as part of a salad. Surprisingly good and fairly healthy if you skip the cheese. The salt content is pretty high though.

You put weight on from carbs and sugar, not fat.
Not that you're wrong to avoid processed meats on a regular basis mind, but the odd BBQ is fine.
