ok ok, i've made a mistake!!! apologies this was genuine.

i've just checked my barclaycard and it was 50.70 so not 60 quid...i must have misheard what the lady said and didn't check the cc receipt properly. also i had thai fishcakes as well which i forgot... as ive dug out the menu for prices and reminded me and it all checks out:

Vegetables Spring Rolls £5.50
Sesame Prawn on Toast £5.50
Thai Style Fish Cake £5.50
Steamed Prawn Dumplings £6.80
Deep Fried Salt and Chilli King Prawn £10.50
Egg Fried Rice £4.30
Chicken Chow Mein £5.80
Singapore Style Noodle (slightly hot) £6.80
A ridiculous and unrepresentative amount of food for one person. I'd be full on 15 quid's worth of that.
a ridiculous and completely and utterly subjective viewpoint based on unknowns. You have zero idea of portion size, no idea of physical situation (how many calories i burn etc), neither i of yours, and have seemingly ignored the previous comments about said plans for such a volume.

I politely doubt you would be full despite me knowing nothing of your appetite/physicality, if you had eaten the top 3 listed items for example.

Eating all in one sitting would indeed be a completely pig out and difficult to achieve even one being very greedy/fat/calorie deficit due to physical exertions, and is certainly anomalous in the amount of food for one person.

But thanks for the comment, however its somewhat OT now regarding the price of F&C, moving on from what some see as being value in their takeaway pricing vs. what others do, happy to create a new thread about it, but its not so relevant here anymore.
Is that lot of waffle a way of completely backing down from your original point, or did I misread it?
You certainly are a who would try to cause an argument in an empty room.

I've removed some of your items to reflect the quantities of a typical order I'd place just for myself, though I'd choose different items. Sometimes (hopefully) there would be a little of that left over for the following mornings breakfast, I sometimes over order to ensure there is. There's nothing nicer than coming downstairs the next morning and realising there's a bit of last nights Chinese takeaway left over for breakfast, to be eaten cold straight from the fridge - a 'Chinese morning after delight' smile

Slightly O/T but why is it that more and more chippies can't cook chips properly?

The last 3 times I've had chips they've tasted half-cooked. One of my favorite chippies (Tib Street in Manchester) used to make consistently good chips but is now under "new management" cry

Large (very, but indeterminate) fish, regular chips, small peas - £9.50, South Lakes. Much, much better for being fried in dripping.

It is such a common problem. You would think making chips would be an easy thing for a chippy to do. Too many can't cook chips.

Last Friday excellent Fish & Chips from the Watch House takeaway in St Mawes.
£23 for one regular and one large portion, the quality easily justified the price

Got fish and chips on Friday night for the first time in about a year

2 x cod and chips (£21.80)
1 x curry (£1)
1 x gravy (£1)
Total £23.80

Checked bank account and the same order last year was £20 so a 20% increase

This is is deepest darkest Newcastle

Around here Cod is £7, Plaice or Haddock at £9 and chips start at £3, we decided to push the boat out and opt for 2 x Plaice and a large portion of chips which came to £22, tasted very good and reasonable value for money, this is downtown Beaconsfield yum

Can anybody recommend a decent chippy in the Northern Quarter now that Kingfisher Chippy in Tib Street has gone downhill? frown

I didn't know there had been any ban. Personally no real issues with C70R posts, there are far far worse. Sometimes certain people just need to be bluntly informed that they're idiots.

Anyway back to arguing about portion sizes, tonight we, as in three of us, had the following order

Char Siu pork in soya sauce.
Sweet and Sour chicken
Yung Chow Rice
Prawn crackers (free)
£21.00

Dog rather disappointed as there were leftovers but he was not allowed anything.

Fed all 3 well, bit full really, in fact all agreed that it would easily have fed 4, and that's not to be interpreted as could have stretched to 4.

If anyone reckons they could have eaten that lot single handed and had some starters / side orders they need to give their head a wobble.

Excellent value. To be fair, anyone who could polish that lot off on their own, would be wobbling not just their head, but every other part of their obese body.
