Went through a KFC drive through yesterday, presented my app and asked for a single mighty meal that was on offer at £2.95. Lady at the window disappeared and returned a minute later telling me they can't sell it as it costs less then £5!!!

This feels a lot like partial info. I’m not saying you are withholding information you have but perhaps you didn’t get the full information from them about what the issue was.
E.g. minimum card payment limits (unlikely admittedly), app t&cs etc.

And….did you ask why they have a £5 limit?

^ that being the obvious response?

Edit.

Are you saying that you ordered the (discounted app only) meal on your app, but instead went to the drive through instead of the pick up point.

Or,

You ordered the item at the drive through speaker, but asked to pay the online app-only price when you got to the window, and not the drive through standard price.

It’s not clear which.

Is KFC one of those "at participating franchises" clauses?

Probably a franchise:

"see app for terms and conditions, participating restaurants only"

They did you a favour, learn that KFC ain't what it used to be and is utter ste and go elsewhere from now on!

(delete the app too, it's like wearing mucky pants, what would your mother think, if they found you in A&E covered in vomit and spunk, barely able to communicate. Using your sticky finger to unlock your phone, only to see the KFC app, how embarrassing!!)

biggrin

I had a KFC before Christmas and ordered a box meal. What has happened to the Zinger burger. It's shrunk by about 1/3rd.

I love the idea of KFC but on the few occasions I've visited it's been total st.

As others have said, they're probably a franchise and the offer will exclude drive ins or have other restrictions.

Cost engineering - how to manage a product line and minimise price increases when all of your input costs go up (ingredients, energy, staffing, etc)

I've never eaten KFC, so I'm sure my post is entirely pointless, but I have often wondered what sort of demographic they are enticing by the offer of eating your dinner out of a bucket? Certainly not me

My 10 year old.
In other related news, a double gravy bucket meal is sufficient for 3 people, and you all get the sweats afterwards.

Billy Connolly on KFC:

“My advice to you if you want to lose a bit of weight: don’t eat anything that comes in a bucket. Buckets are the kitchen utensils of the farmyard.”

"Double gravy bucket meal".

Makes me nauseous just typing that.

I did what I usually do, drive up to the window, give the person my order, they scan the app and pay.

I just could not be bothered arguing, I just thought it was starange KFC make an offer then tell you they won't sell it

I remember thinking it was the ultimate when I was about 10, and also there were very few KFCs.

Good fried chicken can be excellent, I've only found KFC to be crap as an adult. Soggy and greasy.

I was collecting a new car from Stoke (DriveTheDeal) and staying in a hotel . Popped into the City Centre and went into KFC and asked for a meal.

"Sorry, we've got no chicken, burgers or fries."
"So what have you go then?"
"Drinks!"

I am trying to think what wine would go with that? A crisp Chablis perhaps? Or something more robust? Quite a challenge for anyone I should think.
