That ratio of meat to bread, just looks wrong to me.
Well you could take some extra bread with you, but there's really no need Edited by The Gauge on Sunday 29th October 15:01
Ratio is just right in my opinion.
Bagels + Schmear in Radlett is much closer to me and also very good.
I’m looking forward to the start of the Christmas sandwiches now and will be heading to borough market when the time is right

Can anyone recommend a pre-made horseradish sauce? I had Tesco Finest in a beef and rocket sandwich today, but it tasted like tangy mayonnaise. No bite at all.
If you have a Polski Sklep nearby (Polish shop) the stuff they sell usually has decent kick to it. Better than anything you can get in the supermarket. Sadly, Pickles in Old Queen Street, SW1 is no more, and has been replaced by yet another wky wine bar type place for the SPAD market.
But the bacon, sausage and fried egg banjo that they laid on for decades for everybody from window cleaners to cabinet ministers was just perfect to set one up for a day’s work, mitigate a hangover or help one face any of the misfortunes catalogued in any number of C&W songs.
There is absolutely no need for sophistication or even top class ingredients in a sandwich, just doing simple things right!

I have 3 on rotation depending upon mood.
Simplest; Ham, cheese, mustard, pickle on a still slightly warm French baguette. Cold salted butter.
Breakfast: Lorne sausage, smoked bacon, tomato and jalapeño relish on a fresh that morning Scottish breakfast roll. Note: roll must absolutely not be the version baked to point of burning, ok to be well done but black? Nope too much.
Complicated: Proper New Orleans muffuletta. Better still if it includes mortadella as one of the meats.
Recently got introduced to pear and cheese on a barm cake. Has merits, cheese must be mild.

If you ever find yourself near Bedford, drop in to the Wickes car park next to Waitrose and try the Chicken Saltimbocca from Ciao Down.

Insanely tasty.
Thanks for the recommendation. I was down that way this morning so I got involved (pesto sauce one half, chilli in the other). Very tasty and a nice couple running it as well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJrHUWW3M7M

Long gone now but there was a superb sandwich shop just off Leadenhall in the City called Jonathan’s. Their spicy bacon and guacamole on a heated bap was glorious.

We used to have a brilliant Polski Sklep near us, but in a rather unfortunate recreation of 1930s history, it's now a German Donor Kebab. The Gauge said:
I'd probably agree to that.
The Katz Diner sandwich has now ben knocked off my top spot thanks to a recommendation made over in the London Streetfood thread in the Holiday section. I went to Brick Lane and had a salt beef bagel which equalled the Kat Diner sandwich but was had for just £6.95
Does the bagel cost extra or something? Can't see the appeal of standing their tucking in to a handful of meat, looks a bit bland. Tracklements (available from Ocado if not sold near you)
Thanks, I'll take a look! There used to be a bistro type place called Raoul’s in London. I loved their club sandwich. Thought it was the perfect proportion of meat and carbs. They used smoked chicken which gave it a different edge and served it with really skinny fries.
Shame that place closed down.
Was recently in a cafe called Josie’s in Petersfield. Their fried chicken club sandwich was also really satisfying in a dirty way!
