Newcastle restaurant recommendations

Wedding anniversary and staying a couple of days in Newcastle. Staying at Leornado hotel so need a few good restaurants nearby.
Siam Zaa and insieme look good, any other suggestions greatfully received.
Exclude Mexican restaurants not a fan of the food, Thai, Chinese Italian Spanish all good.

Points to note:
- House of Tides can be v.difficult to get a table at depending when you are visiting / looking at.
- Simla is extremely good and very reasonably priced too - if you like Indian food I would say its a must-do
- Mantra Thai (was the old Waterside Palace [Chinese]) is good and semi-authentic, the past few times ive been there though weve felt rushed which isnt great
- Landmark, I am a little biased here as a neighbour owns it along with a couple of other Chinese food-eries in the city and it is good

El torero is a particularly favourite of my ex who grew up in Spain and thinks it’s the most authentic tapas she’s found in this country

Forgot about Cook House.
El Torero and El Coto are owned by the same people.
He also ran Dacantus and Continental bars too and they did really nice tapas nibbles with gin One of these days I will post on the correct forum, oops 
Thanks to all for replies, wedding anniversary on monday unfortunately some of the restaurants closed on Monday. Nevertheless you have all given me food for thought, pardon the pun, looks like we will be returning to Newcastle at a later date to try some of the other restaurants.

Only one I'd add to the already extensive list is Miso. It's a less formal dining experience, but the food is fabulous.

Pani's, a Sardinian restaurant near the Theatre Royal is great for lunch. Been eating there for 25+ years!

If you end up wanting breakfast outside of the hotel, Quay Ingredient under the Tyne Bridge is excellent.

Thanks for that forgot about breakfast, too expensive in hotel and after a big meal for dinner prefer a light breakfast will give it a try, menu looks good. Do they do filter coffee? I hate espresso machine coffee too bitter
Bit further into Jesmond, but only a short Uber. But Saray Turkish is excellent.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary, you’ll have a great time in Newcastle, plenty of choice as others have pointed out.
Sadly Trakol has closed, the chefs have moved to Colmans Seafood Temple, one of the countries best seafood restaurants located on the South Shields seafront and highly recommended.
Personally, I have Anna Hedworths Cookhouse as Newcastle’s best restaurant, it will depend on your personal taste but it’s a great place to spend an evening or a long lazy lunch. She also has a sister restaurant in Jesmond called Long Friday a pleasant walk from the city centre calling at the Wylam Brewery along the way.
Six at the Baltic has just been refurbished, good views out onto Newcastle quayside, they also have a nice bar area.
Terry Laybourne is a long standing stalwart of Newcastle’s restaurant scene, 21, The Broad Chare and St Vincent are all highly regarded, we often call into St Vincent just for the cocktails. He also has three restaurants in Fenwicks department store, Porterhouse (best steak in Newcastle) a seafood restaurant and another cafe style 21. Fenwicks also has a Mother Mercy Cocktail bar and a Pizza / tapas restaurant called Fuego (we’re having lunch there tomorrow).
House of Tides & Solstice are both excellent, I was disappointed that Solstice didn’t get a 2nd Michelin star.Kenny Atkinson has a reputation as a mentor and the way he brings on young chefs is incredible. If you do dine at Solstice you’ll get to meet them all.
For something a bit less costing a fortune Pani’s is a family owned Sardinian cafe style restaurant. La Gamba in the Grainger Market is good for a bit of lunch and the market is worth a wander round, plenty of informal eating options, great coffee from Pumphreys.
Bars wise you’re truly spoiled for choice, book a table at Above for great views of the city. Hibou Blanc in the Bigg Market is worth a look in and there’s a tiny Gin bar opposite called the WC, it literally was a ladies toilet.
Just outside the city centre near The Cookhouse is the Brinkburn Brewery and Newcastle’s best bakery Northern Rye, a short walk from there is The Full Circle Brewery.
A final recommendation albeit a bit farther out (take the Metro) is Riley’s Fish Shack, stunning beach location in Tynemouth.

No way, didn’t know Traköl had closed! Have treated myself to the whole roasted Turbot there on several occasions.
Also forgot about Saltwater Fish Company in Fenwicks, go there all the time, particularly for oyster happy hour!
ETA, just reading that Traköl had to close because of the Tyne bridge refurb.
