Another vote for Hibou Blanc. Nice little traditional gem tucked away behind the cocktail bar.

Thai Zaa last night, very good but we were only diners so lack of atmosphere but food and service made up for it.

Decided to go here as thought we had been transported to Chicago it is very windy and short distance to walk from hotel.

Anyone know what happened to The Patricia in Jesmond? Went a few times and thought it was excellent, but it doesn't seem to be open anymore.

Trakol def open

Hibou Blanc, so-so, in my opinion Dobson and Parnell is better

The tap room is indeed open (and expanded) but Trakol is sadly gone

Just to say, the best meal I have ever eaten was in Solstice by Kenny Atkinson, although it was pretty expensive!

The second best meal I have ever eaten was in House of Tides by Kenny Atkinson.

I modestly submit that Kenny Atkinson knows his stuff...

Not Newcastle but only a short distance on the train along the Tyne Valley line is Mrs Loto and my favourite restaurant and that includes most of the posh ones mentioned in Newcastle. For quality and value it simply cannot be beaten (IOHO) - meeting friends there for lunch tomorrow and can't wait, it never disappoints:

I keep forgetting about Bouchon Bistro, it’s now on the list, love the train ride out thru the Tyne Valley.

Just back and brilliant as ever, simple food cooked very well indeed. Just what we like, you must try it if you haven't been yet.

Any of you been to Adriano's in Gosforth, or Peas and Loaf, since COVID?

We went to Peace and Loaf back in 2021 and the experience was 'interesting'

At the time they offered 7, 14 or 21 course tasting menus with optional wine pairings and we went for the 7 course with wine.

To cut a long story short, we left completely pissed and bloody starving as the wine portions were very generous but the food portions were pathetic. My wife does not have a big appetite but even she demanded a portion of chips as we walked back through the town centre to the station!

It may have improved since then but, if not, I wouldn't bother.

Ah I see, went there in Sept 2018, and it was a good evening, great food and wine pairings, but yes, the portions were 'modest'..

We used to cane Adriano's on the expense acct, just wondered if it was back to a good standard after shutting down during Covid.

Ophelia's any good ?

Yes, I’ve been to Adrianos recently and I’m due back there in a few weeks. It was a lunchtime and the food was excellent and staff friendly and helpful.

In my opinion certainly one of the better restaurants in Gosforth.
