If you order through Burger King app and don't collect your order you get charged anyway.

Few weeks ago ordered a Burger King but there was some sort of road closure and by the time I got to the shop it was closed, but they charged me for the order.

Emailed Burger King a few times since but they are ignoring my emails.

Won't be using Burger King ever again.

Surely you can see why they have to take payment upfront....

Once the food has been bagged up (possibly made to order) and sat there for a while they can't just fish it out and resell it.
I expect all fast food chains are the same, so don't risk ordering on an app till you are nearby

If you order concert tickets but then don’t go would you expect a refund?

Obviously you got charged. Or do you think they should only cook it when you arrive to collect?!

That's precisely how the McDonalds app works, you check in when you arrive and they charge you at that point.

McDonalds don’t cook food to order unless you are modifying something.

They’re gonna put it together though. What is it with the entitlement of some people?!

My own actions have created food waste, oh well, let the company suck it up.

That is how KFC works and Burger King don't cook it to order either, Burger King is a fast food place. How would an app order and cooking it to order work anyway if there is no arrival time

I'm pretty sure they DO only cook to order now, and have done for a few years. Or at the very least they "assemble" to order - gone are the days where you'd have a stack of fully assembled burgers sitting there waiting for an order to come in.

Whilst I can understand the frustration of the OP that's ^^ kind of where I am.

If you had a "proper" restaurant cook you a meal and then didn't turn up would you expect them to just pick up the tab?

Probably not so why is it OK when it's a fast food place.

No, McDonalds only do that once you “check in” which the app won’t let you do unless you are at the restaurant.

At McDonalds it’s because the restaurant doesn’t do anything with the order until you arrive and check in.

OK so how does it work?, Used to use Burger King a lot, I make an order say 20.00, how does Burger King know how long it will take me to get there, how big the queue at the drive through will be, I have been sat in drive through queues for 30 minutes. At what point do they cook to order

Comparing Burger King to a proper restaurant is just silly.

Edit, how do they cook to order if I just turn up?

You can Check In & pay before you get to the restaurant. Done it many times.

No, payment is only taken when you check in. You can place the order as early as you want but the last step requires you to be at the restaurant.

You do go through the “pay” screen, but are not charged unless you subsequently check in.

They make it when you arrive. you check in when you arrive, they then make your order and they charge you.

It wasn’t McDonalds.
