Just watching the F-Word and Street-Porters campaign to get people eating Veal again.

I was introduced to it earlier this year in Rome and now go out of my way to a Butchers near buy just to get it for MrsR to cook up as I love the stuff, I cannot believe it isn't more popular than it is?!

Anyone else enjoy some baby beef?

Yep, love it.

Some won't agree, and I don't agree with eating a dog but it's OK in some countries and I have to accept that people have a choice.

I've eaten British veal for a few years, now, since we banned the crates. I've even corrupted the veggie O/H to try it. Crated veal was still legal on the continent 'til recently, so I've not eaten it there.

He's right you know. Most veal comes fom surplus bull calves of dairy herds. They would be butchered at birth and wasted if not grown on for veal (ok short life i know).

Love veal. calves liver is even better yum

Had a veal chop at a steak place recently and it was great. Decent sized (twice the size of a pork chop), chargrilled to a loverly tenderness yum yum.

Smiler.

Having read "MEAT" I have thought about eating Rose Veal. The truth is I don't often think to buy any. The Mrs won't eat it at all.

Unfortunately my local butcher only has frozen escallops and when I breaded them I was a little disappointed. I'll definitely try fresh veal if I have the chance.

There is an argument that this is exactly right. That if we don't eat it the calves are exported to Europe and get "crated". I have recently learned that Britain made crating illegal in 1990 but that a European ban on the practice isn't yet in effect.
