Also, it's worth trying in a fondue as an interesting meal when entertaining.

won't eat white, will eat rose
Ok, you have me wondering... What's the difference? I'm 99% sure the stuff I'm buying is rose?

Edit: Asked MrsR what the name of the dish is that she has been cooking and its "Saltimbocca - Roman Style", essentially its veal with prosciutto and sage. I highly recommend it!

one is force fed and caged, the other isn't

can't remember which way round although IMO the force fed does taste better

Should be organic and free range, then it s first class try this this summer
Scallopina al limone

Marinate two thin veal escallops (100 grammish each) per person in the juice of two freshly pressed organic lemons for the afternoon (meat will turn white don't worry), put in smoking hot pan with a little olive oil and salt, fry for two min each side, then transfer to a warm plate, put the rest of the marinade, some olive oil and butter back into the pan and warm through and season
Pour over meat, serve with grated lemon zest and fresh black pepper and ciabatta for a quick light supper or with lemon mesh for a more substantial dinner
Don't forget some italian white yum

Yup - Often have it when I eat at one of my favourite Italians.

They do it with a lovely mash with calves liver on top - very rich.

Have to agree 100% with daveR. Always loved veal, and when I was in Rome recently had Saltimbocca - fantastic!

I would put a link for a recipie if I knew how! yum

I'm also a fan of veal thumbup

I honestly do not see a problem with it providing it has been raised in a humane way, after all we eat lamb (baby sheep) so why the disgust from some people about veal (baby cows).

Another to try if you haven't is suckling pig..........now that IS lovely lick

Love suckling pig as well (know it from Greece and Italy and Germany) and love it...
Tried to get some here
120 quid for about 6 pounds of meatyikes- 4 times the rate in Germany...
Probably not worth it
