Tiramisu, I could eat buckets of the stuff.
My wife makes the most splendid home-made Tiramisu.

I admit to make it quicker she buys in "Taste the Difference" custard - but my goodness it's fantastic. Seriously how-to-become-a fat-bd-quickly cuisine...
Feel free to send some over and I will critique for you....
She's making it tonight.

For ME! ALL FOR ME! Nom. Nom. Nom.... tongue out

No you can't have any. tongue out

All this talk of custard has inspired me to do the most comforting of all foods, bananas and custard, this evening.

Custard? In Tiramisu? Never heard of that.

It sounds very, very wrong and yet strangely intriguing...
She makes the "creamy" bit of it with 50% taste the difference vanilla custard and 50% mascarpone cheese. The triflely bit is amaretto soaked trifley biscuits (you can tell it's not me who makes it). On top goes crushed dark chocolate (none of your cocoa powder - real crushed dark chocolate).

Blimey it's wonderful...

I always thought that the alcohol in a Tiramisu came from infusing amaretti biscuits with Marsala? Whatever. A good, trad, Tiramisu is food of the Gods. As is Jam Roly-Poly and custard. And a good home made rice pudding with a dollop of raspberry jam in the middle.

Probably depends on what I'd just eaten, though some consistent favorites are;

Creme Brulee (as a light one),
Profiteroles, big ones, make the sauce with mars bars, not chocolate!
Sticky toffee pudding, after something like a roast..

Or, forfeit the appetizers and entrees, and I'll just have those three instead, Ok, thanks.

So we ate half of it last night. Lived up to expectations in every way. Mmmmm. With half remaining for tonight's pig-out. I'll be producing a pasta main dish to start, Tiramisu for after...bottle of Barolo with main course maybe and then a shot of Amaretto with the Tiramisu...

Then I'm on vacation for a week. Happy days.
