I always check and always query the suspect ones and get the surcharge removed.

as a hotelier who has just gone on to an epos system I'm finding we are making more mistakes -well the customers are finding more -but it is easier for them as everything is clearly itemised and easily rectified.
Hopefully given time we'll get our act together but the system will still make it better for guests

Lets face it restaurateurs , build up confidence and then you pay for it!!!
You are there to make THEM a living, fair play..

I check all my bills , might seems penny pinching , but at the end of the day a lot of them Prey on the Guilt Factor, ( if you study your bill, your are a low life..)
If your paying hard earned cash , check the Bill , mistakes can and will happen. Also remember a lot of Waiting Staff are stressed out Youngsters and their attention to detail is not what it should be!!

If you are part of a big party it can become very Embarassing to query a bill

Dont be, its a shameful old trick and still not stamped out...

If it isn't right, it gets questioned.
Like the non UK spec waitress at Harvester last night. If I ask to swap fries for mash and get the nod, I don't expect the bill to have £1.50 on it for a side of mash.
Principle.
