Just seen the final final on V+, congratulations to Ming, a worthy winner.

I just hope he stays true to his roots, some of his dishes in the heats looked great. I'd much rather a great big, well cooked chunk of meat on my plate than Michelin star poncy stuff.

IMO of course.

Agreed, on the first part. Ming was definitely a worthy winner.

I liked his hearty dishes, but I thought the last 3 courses he prepared were fantastic. I liked the way you could see his progression as the competition went on. From hearty more rustic style, basic flavours but punchy, to a more refined dish with unexpected flavour combinations. Hopefully he'll stick to his style whatever he does in the future.

As for the other two. I wasn't overly impressed with the guy who came back this year, seemed a bit presumptuous and arrogant. The other guy I think really tried his best, but just wasn't quite up to scratch.

Just remember in the words of Greg Wallace... shout'IT DOESN'T GET ANY TOUGHER!!!'

Here's to a new restaurant in Dorset smile
I read that he was delaying opening a new restaurant because of the credit crunch. What a shame, but I guess a sensible decision in the long term

We were rooting for Ming all week...both really pleased he got it, and I just managed to avoid shedding a manly tear.

Have to say that I didn't think much of the returnee to start with, but some of the food he delivered was very good (hell, all 3 did very good every day...those two did superlative for the last week!). That Chris lad I think knew he was outclassed...compare the reactions after the decision...he knew it was coming, the other chap looked completely gutted.

And yes, I'd eat in the winner's restaurant without hesitation...although given it's about 3hrs drive from me it might not be anytime soon...
