speaking of Glenfiddich, have a look at this.
http://www.thebenevolent.org.uk/index.php
the benevolent fund is the drinks industry charity and they are selling 100 bottles of cask strength, single cask glenfiddich for £50 each through their website.
I've bought one to drink and one to hold onto and see if it appreciates.

Anyone tried this BenRiach Solstice?

Looking at the review it sounds pretty good. I like my Laphroaig, Coal Isla, Ardbeg peaty ones so just wondering if this will be up my street.

Excellent, sounds like one to give a go. Nice idea to have a dram a day as well, could be expensive though ... ... might have to delay the Mrs new kitchen. My best mate's wedding at the weekend, I was best man.
He's marrying a Polish girl, whose father is a retired Colonel in the Polish army. Proper Cold War hard case, so he says.
Nothing could be further from the truth. He furnishes me and the wife with endless shots of Polish vodka. As well as I being the best man, my wife is responsible for the happy couple meeting. She was a colleague of hers, and invited her to our engagement party. In fact it's the 4th wedding my wife is directly responsible for.
Anyway, the Colonel is very proud of his vodka. It's smooth, flavoursome and easily drinkable, despite a 47.5% abv.
We move outside to enjoy the Cuban cigars brought by a friend of ours directly from Cuba not 3 days ago. What's this in my jacket pocket? It's a jacket flask (twice the height of a hip flask!) of Lagavulin 16yo. The perfect complement to a beautiful cigar.
The Colonel has extended his stay in Britain until this weekend when I can direct him around Milroy's. To say he was impressed with our island's finest nectar would be an understatement. He cannot conceive of why vodka is held in such high esteem in his native land.

Having a dram of Ardbeg 10 tonight, I had forgotten just how bloody awesome it is!
I always do too. I mean, I know it's great but every time I try it I get a shock. How stupid is that?
Anyway, similar experience for me last night with Johnnie Walker Black. Fair portion of Talisker in it but, if anything, I think I prefer this JW to 10yo Talisker.
Amazing stuff.

And JW Black is £21 a bottle at Asda at the moment...
Tried the Double Black?
Yeah, I picked up a bottle in JFK last year. For some silly reason they only sold it in 6 or so duty free stores worlrd wide - or so they say.Tried the Double Black?
It's similar to the normal black label, with just the smoke turned up to 11.
