I think this will be one for a special occasion. And there was me just a couple of days ago saying how I loved the old style bottle of Highland Park.

Must have been some favour! :scratchin: wink

I was given the last eighth (or so) of a bottle of 1972 Glendronach last night by a mate. Holy fk, it's good.

Nadurra vs 12yo - Different world.

Add a few extra years - first fill cask - then bottle at cask strength.

Fill yer boots.

Enough said and a bargain price.

Two Irish, one Japanese, two US and a Swedish number!

The Mellow Corn looks like it will be good for unblocking drains, stripping doors, degreasing back axles...

I totally agree, wasn't sure to begin with, but it got much, much better.

On another topic, a chap I work with loves Macallan, and i'm looking to spend upto £100 on a bottle (or 2) for him. Not being a fan myself, not sure what to buy him. Any advice?

Thanks

Im not really a fan myself TBH, although I love the 15yo Fine oak.

I've had a couple of amazing single-casks from SMWS though and a great one from http://www.singlemaltsdirect.com/ who have a cask in the shopthat you can bottle yourself.

Look on ebay for smws 24 (the macallan distillery number).

His love of Macallan would suggest he likes sherry, would you consider a Glendronach? Similar style but cranked up a notch or 5 and, IMHO, the distillery expressions are of a higher quality for the money.

Going to Mull in a couple of weeks.
What is the Tobermory like?

Will probably do a tour of the distillery one day.

I've never been before. Tobermory is a reasonable dram, Ledaig not so much, IMHO.

I would still visit the distillery if I was there though smile

Ooh, nice one. That ale cask is amazing, I love it.

I did have a quick dram of the sherry cask but didn't make any notes. banghead

Might have to pick one of those up...

The ale cask is pretty nice, and great vfm, might try the sherry cask later on. Seemed to be the newer style labels too.

Just picked up a sampler 3 pack from Sainsbury's. Family Reserve, ale cask and sherry cask in little bottles.

Not tried the sherry cask yet but the other 2 were good (and I could taste the difference) if a little harsher than the Monkey Shoulder that preceded them.
