Oh boy . . . my eyes have been opened ! Have just tried a quick mouthful of each and they are all way way better than the others I've had, the Glendronach in particular has a such a smoky, warm oak nose and a rich, warm, fruity taste . . . just delicious ! Just trying the Yoichi now and it's better than I expected, less dramatic than the Glendronach.
http://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/glendronach-1... is a fantastic whisky, just awesome !
Can somebody recommend a similarly rich, deep and complex whisky, with a light smoke, little peat and rich sweetness ? I'm going to buy another Glendronach, probably the 21 yr old Parliament but if there's something else I can add the basket from a different distillery, which is similar, I'll give it a try

Has anyone tried The Macallan 25 year old sherry oak?
I believe it scored 100/100?

Not had them myself, but comparisons seem to be made to the Macallan Sherry Oaks. However for the 18yo's the Macallan is a lot more expensive. I'll be interested to see what others answer to this, as (said quite a few times here now!) I really like Glendronach. Most of the sherry types that I've had don't have such a rich flavour and aftertaste.[url]Can somebody recommend a similarly rich, deep and complex whisky, with a light smoke, little peat and rich sweetness ? I'll probably get into "trouble" for this, but just got a cabinet to put some of my whisky in. However it turns out the shelves were not really the right height for anything else that I would be putting in it, so the whole lot went in. As a geologist I may put some more stones in there once I get organised, I do drink a lot of it though, just not all at once. Also some bottles are being kept for the future for drinking, before it gets too expensive.

Volks - where can I get a bottle of that? My Grandad was in the Royal Marine Commandos during WWII - just a shame I can't share it with him any more.Sorry for the slow reply, if there are any bottles left from the cask run they can be found here.

You may be in luck after the inital run, hopefully so. I recogise your name, I used to be tuscan_al and had the Starmist Tuscan Mk1.
Got back from a week in France and also picked up a bottle of the Nikka All Malt as it seemed worth a gamble at a decent price, although I paid slightly more than the 24 Euros above.
As it was my birthday I also treated myself to a bottle of Laphroaig 18 from a nice whisky/spirits shop in Aix en Provence. Plus a nice litre bottle of Ricard which I've really gotten a taste for.
Top tip: When ordering a nice whisky in a hotel restaurant in the Burgundy area, check the prices first. Had a nice dinner the first night in France in the only place we could find (small village) then noticed the hotel bar had a nice variety of whiskies so had a glass of Lagavulin 16 to round off the evening. 30 Euros!
Should have checked as the price list was on the table, good job it wasn't an Uigeadail, that was 42 Euros! Glad my mrs. just had a glass of wine.

I've got a bottle, but I paid £130. At that price, it's great, perfect example of a sherried Speyside malt. However, no chance I'll re-buy at £600, not worth that at all.I believe it scored 100/100?

Just taken delivery of two bottles of Ardbeg Supernova. They must be in the best packed shipping I've yet seen.
Mine arrived at my parent's house and I have one here waiting to be opened along with a 19yo and a 21yo Glendronach single casks, plus about 30 other bottles Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
