Stupidly told the missus I'd cook us dinner tonight since I am off today.
Fair beers later and the food in the oven, I've had a nip of Highland Park Odin, Kavalan Sherry Cask, Belvenie 15 year old Single Sherry & BenRiach 17 year old.
I've got a terrible terrible terrible feeling she is going to have to continue dinner when she gets in

Just been to Ardmore today and had a very nice couple of hours ++ touring and tasting with the retired distillery manager - highly recommended.
Legacy is 80% peated / 20% unpeated - then sadly brought down to 40%. Having drammed this after the older 10yo fully peated 46% it's sadly a very poor relation. The comparative lack of oils just allow it to fall off the tongue rather than linger, plus the better flavours are very diminished. That said - at £20 is good value.
Also better for me was a Teachers Quarter Cask - and a 12yo centenary Ardmore. Need to google availability and price but expected to be rare to find.
All I bought today though was a 14yo GlenGarioch sherry butt at cask strength - having also had the new 15yo and a couple of 15yo single cask bourbon bottlings at that distillery.

Have been tidying up some stuff I haven't touched for years ..
Some great stuff, although the corks haven't aged so well - so can anyone recommend a good source of replacements as a Google search didn't turn up much.
Funnily enough, I used to cut the fingers off a rubber glove so I could use the rest of the glove to waterproof my Mini's distributor a now I'm cutting the fingers off to seal my whisky!!!

A guide on a distillery tour tasting session suggested to us to upend our bottles once a month or so, to keep the corks moist. I didn't heed his advice, and had a cork break up when opening a bottle a while back.
Or just do the wine thing and have them in a rack on their sides.crmcatee said:
