Just a headsup..

Went to Zaika in Kensingston last night. Had the Gourmand Menu.

We are busy working our way around London's best "ruby's". So far, this place wins hands down. Not your typical curryhouse (it's got a Michelin star), but if you want contemporary indian food in a great venue, put this on your list.

Bloody excellent food.

Off to the Rasoi next. yum

Khan's in Bayswater always used to be good, if a little vague as to what meat is actually being served up!!

There are hundreds of curry houses in C.London....

A few I have been to recently:

Tamarind
Bombay Brasserie
Gaylord
Bombay Palace
Mint Leaf
Veeraswamy

What I do find however is the sweet satisfaction that my local restaurant seems to leave me feeling more satisfied than the above 'high end' eateries.

Zaika is good but a pale shadow of what it was when it opened, unfortunately. The next indian restaurant I would like to try is Nawaabs on the New Kings Road - I've heard rave reviews from a Bengali friend of mine.

Also, bugger paying lots for your food just head east to Tayyabs or New Lahore Kebab House in whitechapel and get with the lambchops smile

Ive been to a fair few of the upmarket rubys in town and can only provide an opinion based on my actual experience - which was to say that the whole evening was excellent. Service/food/ambience - all good. I used to go to Tayaabs quite a lot after work, but it was more for a meat feast than for haute cuisine. The lamb chops...cloud9
