I have a query about water hoping I can get some other views.

Every website recommends different daily water intakes.
I hate water with a passion, will only drink it if really hot weather- which is very rare in this country.
And I really need to up my water intake

How can I up it without drinking actual water?
What drinks count towards 'water intake'
E.g. squash? flavoured waters? milk
can I count proper juice in my intake?
I presume I can't count tea and coffee as intake as it's a diuretic...?

Sorry for the stupid questions but if I find out the answers I may be able to increase water intake without drinking the stuff

How can you hate water? It doesn't taste of anything!

Do you hate air as well?

Hate is a strong word, I hate drinking it, smells of toilets and tastes of limescale.
Even bottled water.
Maybe all in the mind.

Don't be like that, people cannot help their tastes, surely there are things you do not like

Sorry forgot one of these... wink I was only joking.

I read recently that juice, squash and even tea/coffee can count towards your fluid intake for the day. Obviously too much sugar/additives is a no-no, so sugar free orange squash etc. should do the job.

Supposed to have 6-8 glasses a day iirc.

Oh darn it, maybe if we buy some taps- it would taste better? hehe

Tried the Brita, I did not notice any difference to taste, only use it for the coffee machine

most of the 6-8 glasses you need comes from the food you eat. a dash of bitters (angostura or other brands) makes water quite nice. or squash.

Rose's lime cordial, or pomegranate syrup (from Sainsbury's Special Selection) makes water tolerable, IMHO. Otherwise I know what you mean. Water in cities (especially if left a while) smells of tadpoles. yuck

considering water in cities has on average been drunk, peed out and recyled about 8 times down the river before it gets to the townie, it has a decent amount of chlorine in it, tend to have weak squash, eg less than 1 cm in a pint of water and usually have 2-3 with evening meal

Bottle Green cordials (tall thin green and red bottles) are lovely.

An average (whatever that is) adult needs about 2 litres of water a day. But you'll get most of that from solid food- it, like you, is mostly water.

Not counting tea and coffee is a myth, but a little knowledge is always dangerous- they are a diuretic, but not so strong that a cup of tea makes you pee a cup of tea. They count.

If you just want more pleasant tasting water, try a Brita filter fridge door thingy. Or mix 1 part fruit juice with 2 parts water for something close to 'isotonic'. Or squash/cordial.

I have been wondering just who the bizarre tag-line of the Oasis adverts "For people who don't like water", was aimed at.

Now, I know. How utterly bizarre.

powdered water? just add water silly

I meant something else, I was going off on a tangent thinking how do I know the amount of water in Oasis versus the sugar and bad stuff smile
