I've recently hit 23 and looking for somewhere to go out for my birthday party. PH is my first port of call. Not looking to have too big an entourage, probably between 20-30 ppl max

Preferences are:
- not too pricey (less than say £9 a spirit)
- decentish music (anything commercial/r&b is good, not really a dance/house fan)
- not overly crowded
- if i can reserve a booth/table without having a minumum charge (though most places have this) then that'd be awesome
- anywhere you've had a good time!drunk

Cheers! beer

I cant believe I'm recommending this, but it sounds like Mahiki would be perfect for you and your chums.

The Collection in Chelsea/Fulham used to be OK. Haven't been for a coupleof years though.

They did have some student nights there but I never went to any. Having had a quick browse at their website, I'm somewhat surprised at the 'it's a posh club' comments - looks more tacky to me? Sorry, not knocking your recommendation although from your post it seems like you'd rather not spend a night there yourself hehe

its not posh. its....deliberately tacky.

but lots of totty goes there, they serve food (I believe) and the drinks are strong.

most of the posh clubs that do food are members clubs or are hideously expensive (e.g. 50 st james)

Had my 30th at the Rock Garden in Covent Garden, and it was great. thumbup Had a roped off 'VIP area' for myself and group that had its own dedicated bar.

It does come with a minimum bar spend tariff, though. However, you may find that if some other people from elsewhere in the club 'accidentally' use your bar then the minimum spend is easily met. wink Not that I did anything like that, you understand. biggrin

Anyone been to the Verve in Covent Garden? Few people mentioned that to me now, bit more bar than club but still fits the bill. I think I'd prefer to stay in the West End, but any ideas are appreciated.

Verve is not great tbh, reminded me of some of the places in Leicester Sqaure (unnecessary velvet ropes etc.) It used to be Long Island Iced Tea before which was also tacky.

Would recommend the nearby Detroit bar on Earlham Street (near Belgo). Friend had a birthday there (about 20 people) a few weeks back and was very nice. Don't think he had to pay to book the booth. Only problem is it shuts at 12.
