Found a jar of olives in the fridge, bought and opened (and about two eaten) almost two years ago. Will they still be OK or likely to kill? Got some friends round for nibbles later, should I risk it...?

advice welcome!

They'll be fine. Stick them in my Martini.

(This is not a euphamism)

But that would be like admitting to the OH that I was wrong to buy them in the first place two years ago.

No advice like 'Eat within 2 weeks of opening' on the label?

If it is for self consumption I am quite happy to push things.
When serving other people though i wouldn't take the risk.

To be honest I forgot about them (too much lager) and they are still in the fridge. They look OK, might try one in a minute. What's the worst that could happen?

Any olives we have in the fridge usually go off after a month or so. Don't buy the bottled ones much anymore.

Usually get a small box from the deli counter, which taste better and actually end up getting finished.
