B&B I was disappointed when those two got kicked, good cook, great FoH.

What do we have left

The telly Tubies - Probably the strongest apart from the Mrs who doesn't actually seem to like food.
The blond boys - terrible, the chef doesn't cook and they are so arrogant.
The Nigerian girls - It's just not a fly-er, I'd try it but they seem to have westernised it too much to the point of bland
The Rude man - the chef is good but FoH sucks really badly. Out next week I think.

Great TV though!
I'd agree that on camera she appears to hate all food, but clearly from looking at her she certainly must eat something!

I can't find words to describe how appalled I am at the pathetically low level of ability of the poor people who have stepped up to humiliate themselves on this programme. There are legions of couples out there who want to run a restaurant, who are organised, who like food and who can cook. That they should be ignored and replaced by this bunch of numpties makes me wonder what the BBC and Raymond Blanc are playing at ( I think his lady assistant thinks the same too - never seen so much eye rolling)

In case anyone thinks this is an ill-informed rant - I had a job for a while working in HR and Training for one of the big 6 brewers. I was involved in recruiting and training couples to run pubs ( which included some low level cooking - but probably more than some of this lot can manage) There are good people out there who could put up a much more interesting fight for the title

My view? Sack the lot - do it now!

Fully agree. Absolutely blinking useless the job lot of them.

The blonde poofs need to be stripped of their HUGE egos, the chubby couple need to go on a diet and that ignorant black guy needs humiliating beyond recognition.

On another note, don't you all agree that Sarah Willingham is very beautiful? I am not one of these 'bump lovers' but even though she is 'with child' she is still gorgeous!

You are, of course, quite right...

But I'm thinking this has nothing to do with finding a potentially brilliant pair of future restauranters/business partners - it's first and foremost (and probably only) about making watcheable television. I believe the people who make this are the same people who make The Apprentice - and it's not like they get the best business brains on that programme either is it?. No, they get people who you, I, and millions of others will have an opinion about and discuss in the pub/at home/on forums/etc.

Maye I'm just getting cynical in my old age and of course since it's 9.30 on a Friday I may be a little squiffy.. drink

For what it is worth, I think B&B were the only ones who were remotely close to being suitable...

It's a pity the guy who wanted to carry on in the bodger and badger team couldn't join the good chef who's with the useless overly aggressive / loving himself too much guy. I've never seen someone who has so little right to work in any business, well except maybe a bouncer at a gay bar.

Just like with the Apprentice, it's probably the case the majority of people capable of doing these things well, wouldn't choose to do them on a TV show for a third party. They'd just do them for themselves.

I agree with this man. In every respect.

i really enjoyed the first two series. this one is just car crash TV, lurching from one cringe making catastrophe to the next. Were the first two series so unpopular that they needed to completely change the format - and if so, why did it keep on getting re-commisioned? I feel like emailing the BBC; not something i've ever said before.

well....

I think he made the right choice.

Make the "chef" work as a barman, he is obviously good at that. The front of house guy seemed like the best in the competition, and get one of M Blanc's protégées to be the chef.

I feel sorry for Chris, who can obviously cook pretty well, but Nathan was a useless t**t, and should never be allowed to run a restaurant.

Still, here's to hoping they can make a decent TV program next year

I can't believe that the team that couldn't cook 2 standard dishes - risotto and souffle - and had a completely half-baked restaurant "concept" won.

I doubt there will be a 4th series after this one, I really enjoyed the first two, but hated this one, Mr Blanc getting a bit defensive about his choice of winners.

If it was your money, who would you trust to get a return ?

Much as I didn't like the floppy haired gits, I think thy have a level of business sensibility that the others simply don't have. They are fighters. Nathan is a whiny little boy and would bail when the cameras left. The other two were too fragile, which was a shame. They were likable.

interesting link, thanks

I think to assume that they will keep the restaurant as it was in this series is very naive, they will do whatever they think is best for business. the previous two winners did not keep the same restaurant name, or theme (especially the first one).

Annoying as these two people can be, it's obvious they are both good at what they do (not including cooking), which can't be said for any of the other teams IMO

The whole "connnzzzeppt" of the show has been made into a complete farce. Surely the whole point was to take a chef (who cooked) and someone to do front of house. Then each week the teams are given tasks, testing their cooking and front of house skills, as well as other key skills that would be beneficial to running a restaurant?

At the end of each week, the teams are scored based on their performance, the weekest team being ejected. On that principle, how the fk can a chef who can't cook, possibly get to the final??? Furthermore, how can a chef who can't cook, win the final task, which involved cooking a series of dishes, which he coudln't do???

What exactly was the point of doing all the other tasks in the previous episodes if you are then going to completely ignore the results and pick someone other than the clear winner, based on personal pre-requisites that you kept to yourself?!

It's like taking part in a series of trials for a place on the Olympic squad; winning all your qualifying races, winning the final race, only to be told afterwards that the fat bloke who came 5th has been selected because of his supposed "big match mentality".

The J's may have been the most suitable team to run a commercial restaurant, providing they employ a head chef and catering staff and stick to making poncey drinks and sleazing over old women. However, that wasn't the criteria for winning the show (certainly not as far as viewers were concerned) and seems to go against the whole ethos of the competition.

As I said in an earlier post, the producers seem to have screwed it up right from the start by picking such hopeless teams, that none of them were capable of running a restaurant, except perhaps for Bodger & Badger. How much input Ray White and his cronies had in this selection, who knows.
Certainly in the earlier episode, Sarah made it quite clear that none of them were capable in her mind. I assume that towards the end Ray had to be pragmatic and either pull the show completely or award it to the team least likely to lose his money and embarrass his name, regardless of the fact that they clearly didn't "win" the competition.

Poor show all round and I certainly won't be tuning in for "Restaurant 4".

I totally agree - this series was a joke, and none of the people should have been on it. However, if I had to invest in one of them it would have been the winners - I would NEVER go near a restaurant that had Nathan working in it, and although Chris was the best chef, he was hardly incredible.
