Doesn't anyone do fried bread anymore? Proper English brekky

I don't think I've seen any at all on this thread?
I've never been able to do it to a caff standard. So it is a high days and holidays treat for me i.e. when I can get to a caff.
Caff standards is horrible though its just dunked into the deep fryer. Proper fried bread is done in the frying pan after the bacon
My missus does it like that but it just isn't the same, it seems like greasy toast. I like caff standard fried bread.
I don't care for that fried bread where you get oil/fat welling out of it like a sponge. My technique relies on having trimmed bacon fat off the rashers, put it to one side. When the bacon is done, bung the trimmings in a pan to render down and once you've got some clean "bacon grease" as the Americans call it, in the bread goes.

But each does it the way they prefer, and that's fair enough, the desired end crispness depends on the fried slice purpose. Part of a FEB needs some absorbency, as the super crisp element in a bacon / egg bap, crunchier the better.

Incidentally has the committee ruled on the fried slice in a bacon and egg bap conundrum?

Struggling with a Rolls-Royce of a hangover this morning, so here’s a lazy one-pan effort. Couldn’t be bothered with sausages.
Connoisseurs will note and hopefully credit the presence of God’s Own
Condiment.

Posted from my pit of despair.

Lumps of salt big enough to electrocute your teeth. Portobello mushroom. Aldi posh bacon.

Big plate, Alan.

Hendersons! I prefer it to Worcestershire.

A worthy hangover meal. I need to investigate Hendersons as this is new to me.

Looks very good SJ. I'm laid up in bed being sick, so I've just ordered this Henderson's to try for my post recovery fry.

Get amongst the Hendos goodness.

The sweet, tangy, oniony, pickly goodness.

We also prefer it to Lea & Perrins, though we get through a lot of both.

I'd say Lea & Perrins for a bloody Mary.
Hendersons for most other things.

Very impressed by the Hendo's, Jim. Less so with the bacon, which appears, a la Carol's breakfast from a while back, to have been cooked on a radiator.

Edited to add balancing manlove for the superb eggs and mushrooms.

No anchovies, more of a relish, more rounded flavour in my view with a fry up (and I like my anchovies)

Effort from a Premier Inn last week. Not as good as what I’d had in the past. Egg had been out under the lamps a bit too long.

Sausages were good to be fair, bacon a bit funky. I went back for another plate of the same, didn’t eat again until the evening.
