Surely a typo? Even at £6.95 it's £3 too expensive. That is bonkers.
Nope it was £16.95! Glad it’s company cash not mine! There was other choice but I’ve had better cheaper

Most hotel breakfasts are about that price unless you buy them beforehand

There is more than £1 worth of ingredients there, so its definitely worth more than £3.95.

The contents of that plate would be £4 to £4.50 at many greasy spoons north of London, closer to £4 the further north you get, and the food would taste fine.smile

They use cheap ingredients then.

So no different to the hotel then smile . It's highly likely they're being supplied by Brakes or Bidvest.

WELL, turns out that since I’m a member of the club Carlson whatever the hell that is, the breakfast is only £8! Not too bad

I did also have a bowl of Greek yogurt with honey, nuts and peanut butter.

This was Sunday’s breakfast. £6 of ribeye. Nothing fancy, just taken out of the fridge and left on the kitchen side in the sun to get up to room temperature, liberally seasoned while doing so on both sides with freshly ground black pepper and freshly ground sea salt. Cooked in a dry pan, no oil, but finished off with a smidge of butter. Two minutes per side, five minutes resting on a warm plate in the microwave (I warmed the plate in the microwave, then put the steak on the plate, with the door closed to keep it warm - I didn’t microwave the steak).

It might have been breakfast, Officer, but the "Steak" thread's elsewhere ... wink

Still a tough crowd in here, I see! It turns out 2 minutes per side was 30 seconds too much, it really only needed 90 seconds per side.

I'm sure it was nice but I can't get my head around eating steak for breakfast.

I was going to go “full astronaut” and have scrambled eggs with it as well, but couldn’t be bothered with the huge faff of doing the eggs. Yes, I’m that lazy.

Steak and eggs is a fairly standard breakfast.

But peppering the steak before frying it was a fools errand, as the peppercorns just burn up when being fried,

It did still pretty decent tbf.

Its not that standard here, ive never seen it on a breakfast menu anywhere that I have been.
